Love this hat- it is my go to every day! It’s brim is wide and deep enough that you don’t need sunglasses, it looks great, lightweight, simple, dries fast, and is moisture wicking. Really wish I bought a couple colors before they ran out, but plan to buy many colors of this hat. All my backpacking friends like it too, so buying multiple for Xmas gifts this year.

This hat has some great attributes. It's comfortable, soft/pliable, easy to adjust, wicks sweat and shields from sun - but it has one serious flaw, It takes FOREVER to dry. I'm in the habit of wearing a hat while hiking, then giving it a good wash with soap & water in the sink, and hanging it to dry. I have another lightweight cap that I've had for years (it's from EMS, if I'm allowed to say so), and it dries within a few hours. I can wear it the next day. Not so, this cap. This one remains damp for at least a few days. For me, that's a huge drawback. It's also overpriced for a simple hat. I'd sort of recommend it, but I think there are probably better alternatives.
I love this hat. I buy it every spring when a new color comes out. I'm not kidding when I say I own twenty of them and I've gifted probably 10 more. Its gone up in price by 10 bucks which is a shame but whatever. More importantly though, the logo keeps getting bigger and bigger every year. Dear REI, STOP this logo nonsense! This hat is perfect. Love you, but I don't need to be a walking billboard for ya. Not all of us live in Boulder. Simple hat, one color, minimal logo. Don't mess this up for me. Love, Spencer
This is my go to hat for any outdoor activity and travel. I have owned a few over the past 7 years or so. Sometimes they fly off into the ocean ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . It is super comfortable, dries fast, easy to wash, bill keeps its shape, the rubber sincher holds well after years of use. I liked the previous year colors and logo better.
Received detailed descriptions of various sunhats as I was trying to decide on a hat for an upcoming hikes to Zion & Bryson national parks The explanations of the various hat features and the variety were helpful to make decision for this hat It was the right hat the right decision it shielded my eyes from the Utah sun was light and once placed on and hatband setup it stayed put I could focus on the hike on my footing with the clear view this hat helped me to have This is one more REI item and one more experience with REI knowledgeable friendly staff that helped me to be properly outfitted to enjoy nature and the outdoors
Hat is made of the lightest, coolest fabric I've ever felt, and has a very comfortable fit for backwards wear. The quick pull bungee adjust cable is very in right now thanks to some other brands, but it's also functional. The only thing that would make this hat better is if it stayed on a bit better in the wind. It comes off easily even when strapped up tight and it also DEFINITELY comes off easily in the Jeep. Awesome hat for the money though, skip the "popular" brands and their price tags. This cools better, fits/looks the same, and wicks sweat and water, too, for half the price.
I like this hat so much, this is the third one I've bought (not durability concerns, I just apparently am bad at keeping track of hats). It is the perfect compromise - sporty enough for hiking, but cute enough to wear around. Could you find a more sport specific hat for dedicated use? sure. Could you find a cuter hat? absolutely. But if you want 1 single hat to wear everywhere for everything, pick this one. The logo is more discreet than other brands; you can scrunch it up and throw it at the bottom of your bag without worry; the fabric is decently comfy under a helmet; and the elastic + cinch holds up over time and tightens it up enough to not worry about blowing away.
For several years now, I have been on the hunt to find a hat that encompasses every single thing that this specific hat embodies. I was seeking a hat that was made of a very light and breathable material that would allow sufficient airflow and while I had found a few other hats that were mediocre in that department, I never was able to find anything that really impressed me. Lastly, as I am sure you can imagine, I was looking for something that actually looked good which this hat does a great job at due to it's very simple, minimalist-style aesthetic!
Biggest, comfortable hat that is so light weight. The average garment fit my head circumference so finding this one that does is a game changer for hiking.
