Makes hiking much safer
My daughter was hiking the CDT, fell and broke her trekking poles. She used her GPS Satellite phone (purchased from REI) to text me asking me to order new ones. The telephone sales rep helped us pick out replacements and got them drop shipped to her next resupply stop. Great products! Greater people who care!

Good price, good product but could do better
The poles feel good in your hand and feel like they can easily hold my weight if need be. The price is quite fair but I do think the rubby tips should come with the set and the hand straps is big enough without gloves but with there far to small. Overall happy with the poles and would have easily given it four stars. If either was corrected. I rarely give anything higher than a four.

Allows for harder adventures to be had

Would of never in a million years thought to use these. They made the 50 mile trek through the smokies possible. I would of still been at the bottom of the mountain if it had not been for these poles.

bulletproof, with one exception

These poles are fantastic. I’ve taken them up and down peaks in Colorado and Wyoming, beating them up in every way. They don’t break. The only time I’ve bent one is accidentally backing over it with my car. Oops. I blame mountain fatigue. The design flaw that is inexplicable and frustrating is the basket design. I’ve lost a handful of snow baskets bc the threads simply don’t keep the baskets on. There needs to be some sort of locking mechanism. So i improvised and put a blowtorch to the baskets wheee they thread onto the pole and melted it so it sticks. It’s worked for one pole. (Shrug). Bottom line, great poles, but don’t buy them for winter if you don’t have a torch.

Solid, straight-forward & simple

My previous twist-lock poles kept getting gummed up, so I went with simple. Also good compromise between weight & strength, given the modest cost. Hand grips are fine (though I don't use them non-stop when hiking).

Sturdy poles..

These are the least expensive pair of trekking poles that Black Diamond makes, yet they're more sturdy than the most expensive pair. I snapped a AR carbon pole at 189.00 a pair on the first day out.. These were like 80.00 and I've traversed the same snowy terrain over and over again

I have used these as hard as I could and they feel rigid, yet are light. Haven't had a single malfunction or problem with them. I recently took a big guy (270#+) hunter on a mountain goat hunt. He used these poles for nearly a week. The only flaw found with him putting his weight on them is occasionally the legs would slide back in, bit that's a lot of weight and force on these. Absolute tough and necessary peice of equipment in in my pack.

Good product for a good price

I have only used them for day hiking over moderate rates trails, but the trekking poles hold up well. Everything is easy to adjust and holds firm when going up and down hills.

Solid trekking pole

You’ll get a reliable trekking pole. Its durable and holding up after 40 hikes or so (maybe 200 miles) without any serious damage or wear and tear. The only problem I’ve found is how the clamping mechanism gradually collapses the pole over the course of a few miles. I don’t lean on my poles too much, its just a fact of using these clamps. If you tighten the screw it may not open or close easily for transportation.
