Very comfortable but no accessories

This is an incredibly comfortable pack for a petite mama and for kiddos. I'm 5'0" and have a really hard time finding packs that fit my torso and this one fits perfectly. It's also very lightweight and compact, something that can also be hard to find in these types of packs. However, I am really disappointed that very basic accessories, such as a sunshade, have to be purchased separately. This is a pretty standard accessory for most child carrier packs (and is a MUST have) and given the cost of this pack to begin with, it's pretty poor form for deuter to not include it. Not a deal breaker, but definitely not worth 5 stars for that reason.

Holds toddlers

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am So impressed with this product. I was Thinking that maybe this would only work for younger babies. I was so. I have A 4 year old that is 37lbd and 32 inches tall. When i put her in this she fit like a glove. It wasn’t tight at all. It actually had room for her to grow in. I recently had Neck surgery and have lower back problems. I need Something that is going to also work with my back problems. I put This on with her in it and went for an two hour hike in our woods. Not once did my back start hurting. It’s like they made this geared toward anyone with back problems. I also Love that when I’m about to put her down i can Just pop out the back bar and it sits down like a chair. She just climbs out. Of course after i unstrap Her. There are so many strap and pockets on this. It makes it so easy to use. I dont Need anything else while hiking with this. I was Able to put my lunch , her lunch, my phone, my cards, a blanket and much more. This is honestly the number one hiking pack in my eyes! I wont Ever use another pack again! The straps hold her in strong enough that i dont Worry that she could climb out. Everything about this is 5star! The teddy bear is the sweetest thing ever. My daughter is carrying it around the entire house.

Great carrier for small women

I’ve been using this carrier for a year and it’s been great, I often wear my ergo but as my daughter with Down Syndrome grows I wanted a bigger carrier for hiking. I love the hip belt for keys and phone. However, I want small-hipped women to be aware that the hip belt doesn’t go down as small as I would like. I am 5’5” 115 lbs, wear size 24 jeans, and have a very straight build. I have the hip strap adjusted as small as it will go and I wish I could pull it an inch smaller. I realize this won’t be a problem for many women but I was specifically looking for a women’s fit because of my small hips not height.

Awesome but leaves room for improvement

As a 5’ tall mama, I can say that this carrier fits great. I love all the adjustments it has and our 7 month old fits very comfortably in it. My biggest complaints are that the shade is sold separately and doesn’t store away and there’s no water bottle holder or a place to put a water bladder. You have to buy the non-women specific fit pack to get that feature. I appreciate that it’s super easy to adjust on the fly to fit my 5’11” husband as well. Overall, I would buy again based on the fit, ease of use, and how lightweight it is.

Preferred over the Deuter Kid Comfort model

I never write reviews but this product has really impressed me. I purchased the Women's Kid Comfort Active SL after first trying out the Deuter Kid Comfort. I am 5ft7in and 160lb for reference. The first big difference is the weight. The Women's KCA SL is lighter by 1.27lb (580g) It might not seem like much but all weight adds up when you are hiking. I definitely tired quicker wearing the Deuter Kid Comfort than the Women's model. Wearing the Deuter Kid Comfort I felt like I was going to topple back. I had to bring my shoulders forward even with the straps tightened to correct positions. There seemed to be a lot of space between me and my 11month old and if she never seemed fully comfortable. However the Women's KCA SL seems to have everything built closer to your back. The closer shoulder straps in the Women's model eliminated my shoulders pulled forward posture. The harness system is also really good, especially when I slipped and fell on a patch of ice during a winter hike and she didn't budge. The fact I fell and my daughter was safe uninjured has compelled me to write this review. I was able to get up and continue hiking and had peace of mind that she was safe. The back frame is slightly shorter in the Women's model than the Deuter Kid Comfort. I noticed this when looking up..my head wasn't restricted by the back brace. The hip harness is very comfortable and adjusts very easily. My Husband (5ft10" 165lb) finds the carrier comfortable to wear as well and also noticed the weight difference compared to the Deuter Kid Comfort.

Great ride in backpack for my two year old!

I brought my two and a half year old daughter (she was about 27lbs when we went a few weeks ago) on a hike with this backpack and it was very comfortable! There is a lunch bag sized amount of storage space on the bottom which I can conveniently fit our insolated lunch bag in, and a few pull ups and baby wipes! It fits everything you need for a day hike and is very comfortable! Great buy!

Perfect for more than hiking!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This little item is a TOTAL JEWEL!! Oh my goodness, you don't need it just for going on hikes either! lol! We put my granddaughter in it to see how she would react and she was on cloud 9! She literally didn't want to get out of it when mommy took it off! But getting back to the review...it's very, very comfortable and easy to maneuver. Although it may look 'bulky' in pictures, it's not. It's very compact, lightweight, and so easy to put baby in and get her/him out along with the fact on how easy it is to put on yourself. The straps that fit over your shoulders are nicely padded and the perfect width so as not to dig in to your shoulder blades when baby is in tow..and the belt around the hip section is ideally made for the comfort of women. (It's so nice that Deuter took into consideration the fact that it's the women that carries the baby in the front for 9 (+/-) months and how uncomfortable that can be for us (though it is a blessing)... that they were able to create this amazing Kid Comfort Fit Active SL Child Carrier so it's easier for us to now carry our wee ones on our backs in COMFORT and security!)

Amazing Pack!

I LOVE this pack! My son is two and we used a different pack up until recently and I must say the side entry and foot straps are the perfect thing for a toddler. It fits him so well and he actually loves climbing into the pack by himself. The pack itself is much lighter than other packs which is so important when you start adding a toddler and hiking essentials. Another great thing I've noticed is how well this model fits. I don't have to adjust the straps or move the pack around during long hikes to shift the pressure. It fits perfectly and stays in place the whole time. I honestly can't say enough good things about this pack :)

Great Carrier!

We have used this carrier a few times, including one hike and an overnight backpacking trip. The LO is comfortable in it and can’t wait to saddle up each time. As a user, it would be great if Deuter included straps on the bottom to be able to carry a sleeping bag. Also, would be great to have a holder for a water bladder built into the frame.
