We started using this hiking pack with my son after he turned 4 months old--5 months of use later, I am impressed by the quality and comfort of this pack and my son would rave too if he could speak. No matter how tired or crabby he might be, when he sees this pack he lights up because he knows it means adventure! The straps are intuitive and easy to use, I feel like he is well secured in this pack. I admit, however, that I just realized it had a kickstand to sit upright!! I guess that is what I get for not watching instructional videos before I used it! Yet another plus to this piece. We also bought the sunshade which I see as a must with this product.

Wasn’t safe and secure

I’m 5’4” and I could not get the torso small enough to fit in me properly. Also the “harness” did not get small enough to fit on my 9 month old. She could slide right out of it. Nowhere for a water bottle besides the drawstring pocket on the back. That’s a problem with most packs...you need to have one that you can reach without taking the pack off when you are hiking alone.

Lifesaver on the trails

We wanted our 10 month old to start enjoying our hikes and carrying her on our back was easily the solution. My fiancé and I alternate using this with ease. I love all the storage and my daughter loves the food straps and vantage point. We got the sun shade accessory too. She falls asleep in this thing all the time. It’s also easy to swing her off our back but leave her in it so she can eat when we take breaks. We gifted one to our newest family member to spread the joy of babies in the wild.

Hiking Game Changer

Ordered online last minute for a camping trip to Big Sur with my wife and 2.5 year only son (~30lbs) and couldn’t be happier. Just about everything is adjustable in small increments for the perfect fit. I’m 5’7” and given the way I have it set up it might not be the best for taller folks. My son loves being in the pack and it make hikes more enjoyable since we aren’t constantly keeping him moving forward as opposed to playing in the dirt.

Works Great.....Review after 4 Months of Use

This reveiw is coming from 70+ grandparents who are avid, experienced hikers. After research, we bought this Deuter due to its <6 lbs weight, side opening, and stirrups. Grandson was introduced to it at 12 mon. It's now 4 mon later (he's 25 lbs) and he's been on a dozen hikes, including two over 2 hours. "Papa" is 5'9" tall and 170lbs and pack adjusted well to his shorter torso. The sideways balance is fine now that grandson knows how to use stirrups and stays awake. At 12 mon he sometimes had to be "recentered" in saddle when he would fall asleep. This was easily done in seconds (by me) without "Papa" taking the pack off. The support stand was great to leave baby-in-pack while he finished napping after a hike. "Kudos" for ease of side entrance design! Grandson "runs" to get in the pack when we are ready to load. Adjustable stirrups keep his little bare legs from dangling and rubbing on side of pack. Plenty of room in back pouch for spare diaper, snacks, mini water bottle. (I carry larger water sources.) We bought the add-on sunshield, but only used it once. "Papa" thought it caught the breeze a bit. Grandson uses a wide-brimmed hat, good quality UV sunglasses, and likes to look around without obstruction. Bottom line: We have rec this pack to hiking friends, also with a new grandson.

This carrier is amazing!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm very impressed with this carrier! I was a bit intimidated when I opened the box but very impressed. Not only does my baby seem comfortable in it, I was comfortable too. The straps are soft on my shoulders and the carrier itself is very light weight. I love how it has pockets too, which definitely came in handy. I put my phone, keys, wallet, and a snack in it. Despite being intimidated at first, it was very easy to adjust all the straps and use the carrier. Definitely recommend this well made, great quality carrier!

Very pleased

This is an excellent carrier and well worth the price. I returned a cheaper, lower quality carrier that did not meet expectations, I wish I had bought this earlier. The storage space can fit enough snacks, diapers and supplies that we need for a little day hike. We LOVE the side entry option and our little guy is very comfortable in the cargo space. The buckles are sturdy and easy to use (even for little toddler hands to buckle himself in). Materials are durable and comfortable for kid and parent. We bought the optional sunshade and it's a must have in Arizona. Very pleased with this and would definitely recommend.

Worth the money

The ease of putting our kiddo knowing they were secure and safe was so worth the price. Also, our kiddo was just so happy on trails and occasionally fell asleep on the chin rest. The sun roof was helpful too. Great purchase for being outside especially during a pandemic! We bought it when kiddo was 5 months old and are still using it at 15 months. My spouse actually even wore it to the grocery store for ease of use.:)

Light Weight and Comfortable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this for our Alaska trip this summer with our 16 month old. My wife and I both wore this pack over the weekend and each hiked 1 mile with it on. I was a bit skeptical it would fit me correctly as I am 6' 4". This pack has easily adjustable slots to raise and lower this on your back. Definitely will fit most people from short to tall! The pack is very light and we definitely think long distances will be covered with comfort. Once opened we noticed the accessories note with a rain canopy which we will be purchasing. Highly recommend this pack for walking or hiking with your little one.

Lightweight and built well, but probably upgrade

This baby carrier backup is robustly constructed and is pretty lightweight. We have used it mostly successfully for a couple hikes now after our baby got to 8.5 months when they were able to sit upright unaided. Our baby has found it hard to sleep in as the pillow it comes with is quite thin and doesn't provide enough support around the sides, leading to her head getting stuck in an awkward place. We have had to purchase the $20 thicker pillow to try to make it easier for her to sleep. This is going to be baby dependent but ours is going through a phase of hating having a hat on her head making it necessary to get the sun shade accessory as well ($35). So why 4 stars? We love how light this is, but all said and done, we have added back $55 of accessories placing us back at the price of the mid level model "Kid Comfort" which comes with both of these accessories included as far as I understand. The mid level model has a better adjusting mechanism as well to better match your torso length and zippered compartments that can better hold things you need to take (compared to the mesh pouch on this model)(. I would probably have in hindsight gotten the Kid Comfort if I had known this before the baby was born! Overall, the quality of the backpack seems to be great and there's nothing in the description that was misrepresented; however, I think most people would be happier stepping up to get these features directly built in.
