Shoe broke in half after 4 rides, unreal.

I likes these shoes and was loving the grip. I have been out 4 times and today for no noticeable reason the shoe by the toe broke. This is unacceptable from this level of shoe.

Great clipless shoe for mountain biking

I use to wear sidi's for mtn biking; then moved to more all-mountain/enduro. Buddy got these and crankbros mallet's pedals. After one try I was hooked as the prior sidi/time felt loose and tiny platform. These fit true to size; I'm 8.5 and wear 42. Nice toe box - not narrow or to wide. Boa works nice. I had the prior non boa version and this feels similar in fit; just nicer with the boa. sole is right in the middle - not racer firm but not go hiking for 10 miles loose. Its a bike shoe and any hiking should be obstacles you want to go around - thats it. durability is holding up well; slightly better than the older version.

Great shoe not made to last

I loved the fit and BOA system on these shoes. The laces were not able to be adjusted long enough to comfortably get my foot in at purchase, but could be adjusted and lengthened with a simple tool. There was more lace hidden in the BOA enclosure, so that was an easy fix. I loved the fit and pedaling and walkability, but after owning them for 1 year and 5 months the toe is wearing out on one shoe and the part of the shoe that holds the BOA dial on is breaking. The BOA itself is fine, but the shoe is breaking down and the Five Ten warranty is only 6 months. 6 months for a $200 shoe! I can't recommend Five Ten anymore, I read Pearl Izumi has a lifetime warranty and I'll be trying them next. Great shoe while it worked.

Huge improvement!

The new Kestrel Pro takes a tried and true performance All Mountain shoe from a trusted company and makes it better with added adjustability and thoughtful ventilation placement. The new shoes are different from the last iteration, but still keep the sleek aesthetics and industry leading stiffness and performance. They are high-end clipless shoes that I don’t mind wearing for most of my rides, and that’s coming from a former flat pedal devotee. Sure they could hike better, but honestly, if you’re walking up or down something while wearing these shoes, you have bigger things to worry about than the grip of the shoe on dirt.

Great on the bike

Good on the bike, and good for the hike and bike sections. comfortable and good support, clipped or unclipped. Not enough lace on the boa, hard to get in and out of, and heel started to collapse pretty quickly. Destroyed both Boas in one ride by hitting the against rocks, not fixable. Would go for the laces next time.

Wait and see

First I would express how it is stupid to make statements in a review straight after buying a product, especially a technical and sport equipment. Useless to speak about durability in this situation. However the fit is good and I appreciate the general rigidity, especially a kind of lateral toe support. As mentioned in other reviews, I feel a little pain in the forefoot. It was difficult for me to switch from my Specialized 2FO whose last 5 years ((100000 meter up / year). They were so good and rock solid. I hope the Kestrel will compete in the same league.

Worth the money

Leap of faith here, as I have never been clipped in before. As I really like my MTB Five Ten's I thought I'd risk the clip in BOAs. Feel super connected to the bike. The flex very little but as still super comfy to ride and even walk in for reasonable distances. The BOA system is excellent, allowing you to easily tighten/slacken the shoes, while you are riding. I'm not 100% sure how much extra the velcro strap gives but it must be something or it wouldn't be there. One other little 'easter egg' that I really like is the "cats tongue" at the back of you're heel. Stops your feet coming out when they are loose for waling in. Nice little touch. They may not be cheap but you do get your monies worth. I've only done 250k in them so far but still VERY happy with them

Best riding shoes ever!

Just finished riding my bike from San Francisco to Los Angeles as part of the AIDS Lifecycle. These shoes are easily the best riding shoes I’ve ever owned and used! Always comfortable and surprisingly breathable, dried quickly despite getting drenched during a rainstorm, but could probably be improved with some sort of drainage. The Boa Fit system evenly distributed pressure across my feet and was super easy to adjust, even while riding. Even though the sole is super stiff, the shoe was still easy to “cross train” with.

Good looking shoes, and works for wider feet

Bought this for my spin bike and mountain bike work. The materials are very solid feeing. BOA closures are snappy and tight. Included are Ortholite inserts, so they provide a sense of arch support. My feet are wider than most other bike shoe brands will tolerate. The 5.10s work great.
