GREAT BAGS
Outstanding bags. The best value for a set of waterproof front panniers on the market. Roomy and easy to use. I've used them on two tours so far with no problems at all. I highly recommend.
Great for the price
These are about half the price of similar products by more popular brands- and the quality is generally very decent. I bought a pair for a long bike tour (1000 miles) and used them in conjunction with the trailer system. I had full confidence in the waterproofing and there were no issues with leaks. Seams and construction were absolutely fine. I reserve 1 star because the hanging hardware is plastic, and I actually had an issue with that (hit a huge pot hole during my ride by accident and one of the hanging clips broke). The design is modular and I should be able to replace the clip without too much trouble.
A Quality Bargain even at Twice the Price!!
Waterproof is... Waterproof... Yellow is... Yellow... Why pay $240 for the 25-liter Ortlieb Front Rollers when the 22-liter Burleys only cost $90?! That's almost one-third the price! I've owned Ortliebs, front and rear, and the quality and ease of use of the Burley Panniers is absolutely equivalent... My only nitpick -- Allow for two different rack tube sizes on the two-sided lower mounting claw, though easily remedied with a spacer washer or two for the Tubus front rack...
Coho usage leaves much to be desired
These bags didn’t make it through 1 night of camping on the coho trailer. They hang below the main trailer bed and beyond the sides so they easily scrape on trail side objects or even the ground when leaned too far to the side. I had small holes within 100 yards of setting off down a trail. The seams also came unglued after a moist morning rendering the top closure useless. These may be fine for light duty town usage but are no match for the advertised usage on the back of the coho.
Great but beware of saddle bag compatibility
Doesn't fit well with the Topeak Explorer MTX Tubular Rack with Disc Mounts. It will clip on but you have to squish it and the bag becomes deformed. I think I will need to modify the bag or just buy new bags.
Good waterproofing, decent price
Works well with axiom journey dlx low rider front bike rack on my tires. I had no issue with the waterproofing on a month long bike trip. The connection points to the bike rack leaves the bags a little wobbly in my opinion, but still work! A little lower in price compared to other bags, so overall definitely a solid bag.
Attachment mechanism needs redesign
I really wanted to like these: lighter & way less $$ than Ortlieb sport rollers! But the attachment mechanism leaves a sizeable piece of plastic "nub" sticking straight up once it's on the rack. You can see it in the 5th picture on this product page. Problem is, any pack/bag placed on the flat part of the rack sits right on top of these two plastic pieces! It's more than an inconvenience. The plastic is not that strong & certainly not designed to put a bag with weight on top of them & the bag doesn't sit flat. If you don't plan on putting anything on the rack itself, these may be a great choice. I just don't want to limit my carrying capability. I ended up getting the hi vis Ortlieb sport rollers. Pricey! But they're better designed; have a 5 year Warranty; they come with shims to fit my rack & other sized racks (I had to make shims for the Burleys to fit); approx 1 lb 3oz heavier with 3 more liters of space; and, WOW, they really pop out to the eyes during daytime & are quite noticeable at night. The extra weight on the Ortliebs mostly seems to be the sturdy plastic backing.
Great stuff in a small package
I have not had these long, but first impressions are great. I used them on a front rack for gravel bikepacking. Sleeping bag, hat, and extra socks in one side, jacket and clothes and water filter in the other. I could have stuffed more, but I was trying to keep the weight even on each side. I could have ridden no hands they were so well balanced. I did have them pretty low on the front wheel of my Kona Sutra, but they were hardly noticed. They handled rough roads with ease. Once I arrived, a quick release of the lock and they were off. My only gripe is the "made in China" tag, but the utility and price are a big sell here. Can't wait to put some more miles these.
Meh
The plastic bar that connects the bottom of the bag to the rack broke. Because the clips that hold the top to the rack are so loose the bag rocks back and forth on my bike and will get caught in the spokes. Very poorly designed. The yellow fabric gets very dirty and makes my whole rig look booty. Save yourself the headache and get a better designed pannier.
Well constructed - works well on a rear bike rack
Very pleased with this product. Solid materials and good craftsmanship. No issues getting it to conform to my Cannondale rear bike rack. It remained very secure at all times on miles of single track. Very easy to organized and get things in and out of the packs. Worked well on my first multi-night trip.
