I LOVE the Jade 28! I used it for a trip to Iceland where I just needed a day pack. The 28L is a perfect size! I originally ordered the latest version of the bag and didn’t like it as much due to the fact that the front pouch was not as stretchy and no sunglass hook on the newer model. I returned it and got the one I wanted. ( I think the model is a few years old ?) I have a long torso so I love the ability to adjust the shoulder straps. The only thing I wish I would have noticed was that it does not have any ability to hang a sleeping bag off the bottom( no place to attach straps). I altered it and added my own. The waist is really comfortable and the waist pockets are large enough to hold a large iphone or satellite phone. Overall awesome bag!
Great backpack. Love the back support and many compartments to stow items. Lightweight, great color and very comfortable. Love how it hugs your body. Fits like a glove!
I've had my Jade 28 for almost 8yrs now, it's my go to pack for a long day out on the trail, I have a short torso and wide hips and this is literally the ONLY pack that fits me (and trust me, I've tried A LOT), I now have it in the 38L as well for long cold weather hikes or short overnights. Also love the trampoline back (light inner frame keeps the pack off your back with a breathable mesh) If there's anything I could request it would be deeper water bottle pockets and a couple small fabric loops to clip more things to the outside of the pack (not sure if those have been upgraded in newer versions).
I have had my original Jade 28 for over 10 years and love it because of the functionality, size and it is my most comfortable pack I own. I recently bought a brand new Jade and am looking forward loving it too for 10 years! I usually do a 10+ mile hike every weekend so I have put my pack through a lot!
We hug trees too!
Great pack. It’s comfortable, roomy, and I love the sunglasses holder in the strap. I do wish there were more pockets on the inside for organization but I remedy that by using small pouches to keep the small things together. I have a long torso and the hips belts fit right where they should. I had ordered myself another OS fits all pack and had to exchange it for this one because it was way too short in the torso for me.
Needed a biggish day pack for carrying overnight clothes and shoes etc both in the city and occasionally on the trail to hike-in cabins. Did a ton of research and tried several packs before buying this one. Can’t believe how much the mesh panel cuts down heat and sweat on my back. I am 5’3” and bought the XS. I also own a Deva 60 in XS. The way weight is transferred to my hips is superior. Super comfortable! I was originally looking for a more work-friendly urban style as well as something slightly smaller, but the comfort of the Jade won me over. Like that the top pocket isn’t separate and doesn’t flip over upside down as on many backpacks.
I bought this a bout 2 months ago and I have taken it to two big hikes and so far loving it
I was looking for a pack that I can use either for an overnighter for myself or also as a day pack when hiking with my 2 dogs for whom I carry extra food and water. While most of my packs are Osprey, their smaller packs just don't fit me right. This Gregory pack was perfect for me. I'm fairly tall at 5'9" but it's mostly legs. My torso is short. However, I have relatively wide shoulders, so finding a good fit in packs (and clothes, for that matter) is almost impossible. This Gregory Jade 28 was adjustable in just the right places for my built though, and its volume is just right for what I needed. I LOVE it and can't wait to take it on the next hiking adventure!
This bag is fantastic. It's really light and surprisingly big with tons of room on the inside. Not a ton of bells and whistles (lots of clips and straps and extra pockets) and I love that. I have another bag that has so many pockets and straps it's overwhelming. This one is simple and easy with lots of room. Also I'm a size 3x/22-24 and with the s/m size the hip belt fits! It's even loose on me on the loosest setting which is crazy, as most bags are a few inches too small to go around me. The backpack seems very well designed with a spot for everything without being overkill. I could see myself being able to go on a multiday camping trip with this bag no problem. I'm definitely a convert to Gregory bags now. 100% recommend.
I am a long-time day hiker, 6 - 13 mile hikes. Am going to Yosemite this summer, wanted a better pack. I ordered one online, it seemed to not work, took it to REI SF, got steered to the Jade 28. The REI staff person was so instrumental & understanding of the fit for my body. I am slight - 5'4", 130, short torso. The Jade 28 fits everything for a day hike in CA weather, use a 3L bladder. It adjusts perfectly - a long-time issue I had was left shoulder pain after about 4 hours, it is now gone. We just hiked 13.2 miles at Prairie Creek Redwoods, was able to attach hiking boots to the outside while walking a couple of miles of beach, creek. All the pockets & attachments are easily accessible & well thought out. The floating frame really works & allows airflow. I love my pack.
