Bought this in good faith online after doing all the measurements. Wound up as an XL according to size chart and ordered an XL. Was hoping it would work since there were no XXL’s available in color choice. But when it came it fit at least a size too small. Guess I’ll never know if I’m an XXL or not. At least not this year. Would recommend the product but it is probably good to size up from the online size chart. Unfortunately I don’t get to evaluate it but it looks like an awesome shell. It is just a shell, no insulation. The hood is definitely helmet friendly and the length in back is great for bicycling, snowmachining, mountaineering etc. I bought it for bicycling and it looks like it would work great if it fit. I knocked a star off because it didn’t fit. Maybe next year.
Overall, I'm really enjoying this jacket. I am 5'11'' 180lbs and the large fits loose, but not too baggy. I think a medium would give me a much more stylish look, but I wanted to make sure I could use this as part of a layering system in any temperature. My only complaint with fit, and reason for 4 stars, is that the hood is enormous. I can fit my climbing helmet under it with all the toggles cinched down completely. I haven't tested the waterproofing for any long duration yet, but I know it's solid under an hour. I've done two short runs in the rain with this jacket and it breaths well. There was a fair bit of clamminess at that excursion level due to sweating, but I couldn't find any trace of moisture build-up on the inside of the jacket. Since this is much lighter than my old rain jacket I'm stoked to try it backpacking this year, and I think it will be a good investment for years to come.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall this design of this jacket is very good. I will be interested in how the material holds up for the jacket. The pair of pants that I have in this material already has one patch, but otherwise has been excellent. I am fairly demanding of my gear, using it for mountaineering, climbing and backcountry skiing.
The DryQ jacket and matching pants don't hold up too well for the price point. I had mine for just over a year but even on their first gentle wash and hang dry the inner lining fell to pieces on both jacket and pants. For the price and the industry they target I expected something more rugged. #disappointed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used on Rainier in april. Whiteout the whole time. Kept me dry while pitzips did the breathing. Very light and minimal, just like I want. The big tooth zipper is a plus. Large chest vents too. Would recommend.
Wets out insanely quick. Any little bit of dirt or liquid other than water seems to just get locked in as a stain and will not clean out. I expected much more from this jacket and am extremely disappointed.
I’ve had this coat for only a few months and the seams are falling apart and the fabric is worn away in areas from my pack. This coat would be more for a walk or hike not needing a pack.
