I’m extremely happy with the Thule Force 3 L Sport. I had it installed and ready to go in just minutes. Great design and extremely easy to access once on the car. The dimensions of the 3 L sport hit the sweet spot for gaining enough cargo space and fitting a full-size mtb.
I've had my Force 3L for about a month now, uses it several time and left it on my car daily. It makes minimal noise even with my sunroof, it's super easy to operate and was easy to put together. The dual opening sides makes it perfect for any car.
Star rating - 3 or 4 Noise - occasionally present (more noticeable at certain speeds) but bearable. not excessive. Aerodynamics - seemed not to impact gas mileage Dual side opening - halfway in my 1200 mile trip the passenger side would not securely lock. closed and partially latched, but not enough to twist the key to lock and remove the key. I was preparing to rope tie the top closed out of desperation, but 20-30 minutes later it did lock. Lost confidence in that side and did not attempt to use that side again. Interior Space - Clamp lock knobs - knobs in interior of box that twist to tighten clasps on crossbars - are large and obtrusive impacting full use of storage space. I went through heavy rain and one time some water did get inside box. not a lot. Water stayed in the bottom channels, so contents were not sitting in water, but enough water to have to towel out. Another time there was no water inside.
Very happy with rhe size of the roof box. It is very well constructed, fits a lot of gear and is extremely quiet at highway speeds up to 80 MPH. I have it mounted on a 2011 4runner with square thule roof bars.
We are currently on a 1000 mile road trip, and have nothing but good things to say about this carrier. We are using it on our subaru outback, on the factory rails, and it makes virtually no noise. We keep forgetting that it's there. It's easy to get into, and keeps things very secure. We can fit a kayak next to it on the factory rails, though we can't open it all the way. Not a complaint, just a fact of using the factory rails! The carrier itself has been awesome
This is the perfect rack for me as it can carry a lot of cargo and I can still fit a surfboard/s (stacked) next to it. Because it is a little shorter tham many cargo carriers, I can open the back of my Kia Sportage comfortably. It was extremely easy to install and is very secure. I couldn't be more pleased.
I researched the product and bought it for a 20% discount but got a notice that it was no longer available after the purchase. I got a 15% off coupon; so REI made 5%.
Happy about this purchase. Easy to put on the roof rack. Great inside space. Not too big, just perfect.
Great quality build and super easy to install securely!
