Solid All Around Pack

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this pack a few weeks ago and love what I've experienced so far. This is a solid, lightweight, feature strong pack for overnight or short weekend trips. Whether for the backcountry, city, or world travel, you can make good use of this pack (can fit into overhead bins). It offers some nice features without added weight including multiple access points, protective rain cover, nice "Aircontact" carrying/strap system to minimize sweat, valuables pocket (more like convenience pocket), loop attachments for hiking poles, pick ax, shovel (or ginormous beef jerky stick), and it works with my hydration pack. Nice little SOS label inside the pack for quick reference (perhaps consider some other emergency care procedures in the future also). Only downside is that I almost 6'4" tall and the pack rides up too high. If you're tall, consider their other versions.

Attractive, versatile, a fine backpack!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As an avid camper and hiker, I must say that I’m am definitely impressed with this Deuter Aircontact Trail 30. It’s rugged, lightweight, and holds a surprising amount of gear. I mostly use it as a day hiking bag, or for overnight, and it serves this purpose admirably. The zippers stay firmly in place, and glide smoothly when opening up. You can store items in the top, or open the front panel, which is great for accessing things stored deeper in the pack so you don’t have to drag everything out. There is a great, small pouch on the waist strap that’s perfect for a knife, sunscreen, and chapstick, and I use it all the time. The straps are thick and I haven’t had any issue with chafing. And all the clasps are easy to secure and open, are tight and sure when engages...and none have opened accidentally. The contouring in the back is comfortable, even when wearing it for hours and moving fast. I’m 6’ and it fits me well, and my wife, at 5’4 can use it as well. I’ve included pics of how it looks on our different frames. There are ways to start on helmets for climbers, and loops for poles, though I haven’t used them yet. I’ve also been using it when traveling, and it fits nicely in the overhead compartments of airplanes. It has held up great so far, and the color is still vibrant. I imagine I’ll use this pack for years to come. Great product.

World traveler.

I purchased this pack at REI Pineville about 4 years ago with REI rewards. It is my survivor pack. Many have come and gone but this is still going strong. I have traveled the world with this pack. It’s been on trailers all over the US from the Smokys to the Rockies. It’s been all along the Adriatic from Albania to Greece and all throughout the mountains of Kosovo. I travel light so I can pack all I need in the 30 liters and the zip open main compartment makes access a breeze without unpacking everything. I’ve made a few minor repairs but nothing major and I clean it regularly and keep it waterproofed. I have donated all my other packs of the same size, they were just collecting dust.

Superb bag for day hikes and one nighters

I’ve really enjoyed this pack. Plenty of room for well equipped day hike or one night out in backcountry. The hip belt is easily adjusted and stays put comfortably. Multiple types of gear loops provide versatility. Water bottle pocket is secure and accessible (with some stretching!) without removing the pack. One external pocket is roomy and well apportioned with organizing compartments. External straps compress load well and external mess pocket is great for ground cover, etc. Dual access to the interior of the bag allows for strategic packing of first needed items while still balancing the weight. I’m very glad I purchased this bag.

Great Design and Utility

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been looking for a good sized Trail backpack for a while now. This backpack lives up to the reputation and specs. Fits everything comfortable for the 30 size and I love pocket utility and design throughout the backpack. When carrying it, the weight disperses well after you adjust the straps to your liking. I also love the look and color, I've gotten a bunch of compliments on it already. Highly recommend this if you are in the market for a comfortable, breathable, and well designed trail backpack.

It's my Primary Backpack to Travel with!

I got this backpack several months ago and am so happy I did. As a world traveler, I go from country to country frequently and have been looking for a good sustainable backpack that's both of good quality and at a decent price. The several access point make it extremely versatile when I need to get to a particular piece of gear and the size fits perfectly into an overhead compartment on an airplane with plenty of room to spare. I would highly recommend this pack not only for it's quality, but as a first time customer i can say I'll definitely be coming back when it's time to get a new pack.

Love the front-access panel.

Just got back from a six-week desert trip during which I beat the he…er, used this pack daily. Totally in love with it. Has simple features, carries light and heavy loads comfortably, and is easily adjustable. Best part is the front-access panel--unzip it and you've instantly got access to everything in the pack's main compartment. One weird thing: only the right hip belt has a pocket, when I'd prefer pockets on both sides. Apart from that? It's great.

Comfortable, versatile, and user-friendly

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was quite impressed by the Deuter Trail 30 hiking and climbing pack. What really stood out for me was its comfort and organizational features. The padded straps, back piece, and belt make a meticulous snug and comfortable fit it, while still allowing the air to flow around your back. It really did help with keeping you from sweating as much. The double opening is a nice feature allowing you to easily get to your gear in top or bottom of your pack. It has well-placed pockets and plenty of loops and straps to dangle your gear from. There is a pocket on the bottom with a cover for rain and mud. This is a versatile and user-friendly pack ill be using a lot.

My Ideal Day Pack

I found this pack while preparing for a 2 week hike on the southern island of New Zealand. I needed a smaller pack for some of the shorter legs of our guided tour as I already have a 73L Osprey Aether (which I also love). After trying several models from various manufacturers including Osprey, Mystery Ranch and even the Deuter ACT Trail 30 pack (which is similar but different to this model) I landed on this one. The fit is perfect for my frame (5'11", 175 lbs). Once adjusted for my torso the bottom doesn't rest against my tail bone which most of the others did. The hip pocket is large enough to store an iPhone 7 and other small items. The lid pocket is large enough to store a camera and large sunglasses case. It has straps to carry walking sticks, will fit a 3L hydration reservoir, comes with a rain cover, and you can access the main storage compartment from both the top and side. It is comfortable and quiet. My only wish is for some other color options but this pack is so functional I would take it in any color.

Not for guys 6’4 or taller

Quality made pack with great company reputation. Was looking for a slightly larger day pack for daily excursions in Europe. This would have been perfect except for the fact it’s too short and rides way above hips. I’m 6’4 and 230 but should fit smaller guys just fine. Only four stars due to fit, otherwise would have been five stars. Now searching for a larger torso pack.....again.
