5th pair, 5th color

I have been running in the cloudflow for more than a year now including a marathon and really like this light weight shoe. They just fit nicely. They are a road running shoe and gravel or sticks can get stuck between the pods when running on trails. Another downside I have noticed is that they do not last as many miles as some other running shoes.

An Interesting shoe

I've really wanted to try a pair of these shoes for a long time and finally got the chance. In the right application, they are excellent shoes, and in others they can be frustrating. The cushioning sole of these is not as bouncy as I was expecting, nothing like the old Nike Shox or whatever New Balance called theirs. These were cushy, but not overly so. The fit was very good out of the box, and they caused no discomfort at all on any of the first couple runs. The only problem I had with them is the empty space between the two halves of the sole. I often run on the side of the road and have to step onto a dirt shoulder at times when cars are coming. With these shoes, at least twice during a 3-5 mile run I would have to stop to dig a rock out from between the two halves. I've had other shoes that have problems with rocks getting stuck in them, but with how the shock system works on this, it compresses and the rock stops the travel of your foot, and with the thin material through the center you definitely feel it. That said, I use these shoes a lot for running on tracks or at places that have a good, clean trail where I know I won't encounter any big rocks. I found wearing them on the road, I became to focused on every rock I saw, which ruined my enjoyment since I was looking to avoid having to deal with dislodging a rock. On a nice, clean surface these shoes make for an enjoyable run.

Solid shoes - stiff suspension, great roadfeel

If you're looking for a solid road shoe that provides moderate cushion and good roadfeel, these shoes may be a great option. The On Cloudflow fit me better than most shoes I've tried. They're built on a wide last and have plenty of room in the toebox. The upper is a bit stiff and if you're used to a knit or sock-like feel, you won't find it here. The fabric is very breathable and durable and didn't create any hot spots for me. The sole has a very spread out lug pattern, with a huge channel down the middle. It provides a good amount of spring, but still feels very natural. This shoe isn't soft, so you're not going to get a plush feel. Instead, they're like a sports car - stiff suspension, low to the ground, plenty of roadfeel. There are two things that make these shoes good, instead of great. First, On has chosen weirdly thin laces. They feel like neon yellow dental floss. And they're so long, you'll need to tuck the ends to avoid the laces brushing your ankles every other step. Be prepared to swap in your own laces! Second, the thin laces and relatively stiff upper create a gap between the shoe and your foot, each time you take a step. If you're running on gravel, be prepared to stop every once in a while to clear out debris. For reference, I'm 5'10", 180 and run primarily on pavement, between 20 and 30 miles a week.

Nice shoe, but too little structure for me

Love this shoe, but too little structure for me at the moment. More on this below, but first let me share what I liked and what I didn't. Great looking shoe--love the attention to detail, for the first couple weeks it seemed like every day I noticed some new detail. Examples: lots of reflective areas, little swiss flag, eyelet in the shape of the logo. Many more items that just scream the shoe is high quality. Other things I love: - The laces: very thin and plenty long enough for any type of lacing and double-knotting you'd want to do - Bright colors--perfect blue/yellow that stands out - Fit was true to size - Very light--a big difference from what I have been running in - Nice cushiony feel - Extremely comfortable - Lots of positive comments ("Wow, nice shoes!" "Those look good." etc.) While there is a lot I love about this shoe, I'm coming from years of running in a very structured shoe (e.g., Asics Kayano). This shoe does not have nearly as much structure as what I'm used to. Over a couple weeks, I ran about 20 miles in this shoe, switching up with my usual pair (currently running 20 - 30 miles per week for upcoming 26.2). I did not have any issues, but definitely noticed the lack of structure. I would like to move to a lighter, less structured shoe, but that will take some time for me. If you need a lot of structure, I think it will take some time to get used to this shoe. So, all-in-all, I would recommend this shoe but caution that if you need structure, it will likely not be your primary running shoe unless you make an effort to move to less structure. I would however, totally recommend the shoe for casual use--looks and feels great!

Lightweight, Comfortable Running Shoe

Just to get it out of the way, I really enjoyed using these running shoes. Now, a more detailed approach: The first thing you notice is the packaging. While it's not necessarily important to the product, it shows that the company cares. The box was a slick, matte black with some minimal branding. When you open it, you find a cool sky/cloud motif on the inside walls, branded tissue paper, and a owner's card. The shoes are stuffed with cardboard shapers and a plastic rod, so they don't get crushed. Overall, very impressed. The first thing I noticed when I took them out of the box was how light they were in comparison to my previous running shoes. I also noticed how flexible the soles were and how breathable the uppers seemed. When I got them on the road, my initial opinions didn't change. I was in the midst of training for a half marathon when I received these, so I was able to try these out over varying lengths of runs. Out of the box, I had no issue. I really noticed how light they were on the road. My fiance even commented on that, saying she couldn't hear my foot strikes as much as before. While flexible, the sole is still supportive and springy. I felt cushion on the strike and bounce as I followed through. This was even more noticeable as I walked int them. I didn't get to try these out in high heat, so I can't really comment on breathability, but they do seem airy based on the looks. The only ever so slight drawback of these is the length of the laces. I really noticed them as I ran, but that's an easy change. The other didn't bother me, but my fiance really didn't like the colors. I'm coming off of a fully fluorescent yellow pair of shoes, so I really liked the colorway. Overall, I have liked these so far and look forward to continuing to use them.

Two thumbs up for new kid on pavement!

To jump straight to the point: I would absolutely buy the Cloudflow shoes again! I will go through a few notes below, but I can say after several runs that these are some of the best running shoes I have owned. PROS: Fit right out of the box, light weight, surface feel, balance, toungue design, lace points, shock absorption CON: Sizing may run tiny bit large— but if so, it is minimal (half size) Full notes: Size- Men’s 12 Color- Peteol/Neon Number of runs so far- 6 Road Surface- concrete, asphalt Average distance- 3-6 miles I have been running on Brooks and Mizuno shoes for between 10-12 years. While these shoes have been solid options for my foot shape and running/ training patterns, they always felt a bit “mass-produced” and clunky when new. From the first moment I slipped the ON Cloudflow shoes on my feet, they felt like they were very much meant for a foot just like mine (long and medium with slightly wide toe box ). The toungue and lace hole design is one of the best I have worn; as the toungue sits comfortably on top of foot without bunching, twisting, or folding at all. While the cushioning isn’t as robust as some shoes I have owned, I didn’t feel like I needed more at any time. In fact, I think ON did a great job balancing weight saving measures with structural / design elements making it feel like a very sturdy shoe. Cushioning/ shock absorption is very good as I experienced no ankle or leg pain points from these shoes. Per my comment above, it does well on various hard surfaces and bumps—and I felt I could taken them out for much longer distances each time they were worn. Bottom line? I really have enjoyed these shoes so far and will certainly consider at the top of my list when time to replace! I can’t speak to long term durability yet, but will continue running on them and look forward to breaking them even more. If you have been looking for a different, high quality road running shoe than your standard brands like I have, give the Cloudflow a try! Keep pounding the pavement, Ph

Shoes themselves are great, but disappointed as they were clearly worn by someone. Slight grass stains and worn down soles.

More responsive than a cloud, not as soft

Coming from Nike Pegasus 35s, I expected a softer, cushier ride with the Cloudflows. There are two things that blew my mind with these shoes, and they may not be specific to the On Cloudflows. That is, the lower drop compared with the Nikes felt amazing. I felt like I was in a better position at toe-off to speed up my pace, and I did. I also expected my runs to feel like I was wearing cleats because of the pods. That was not the case, and it did not feel like I was running on anything soft, either. The Cloudflows felt more connected to the road and were more responsive than the Pegasuses. I didn’t feel like there was any mushiness that are often associated with softer shoes, yet the foot strikes weren’t any more jarring than with the Nikes. An amazing thing about these shoes are that there are noticeably light. I felt almost barefoot, and I feel like that helped in the sense of speed. Although I only got in 3 runs each, I think more time with these could help in that I’m not used to the heel-toe drop. I usually wear a size 12, and I feel like I could have gone down half a size. As a low-arched runner, a stability version of the Cloudflows would be awesome.

Solid running shoes that look good as well

This is a very good running shoe for a normal running routine. So far, I tested the shoes in variety of situations (dry pavement, wet pavement, dirt path, dry/wet boardwalk, running track) and they performed well. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of traction I got on the wet boardwalk, they got me easily through a usually tricky situation. From the first run the shoes felt very comfortable. The "sock" design works well and it does contribute to the overall comfort. They feel very light on the feet. Although the design of the sole probably cuts the weight and contributes to that "light" feel, I am not big fan of the various holes throughout the sole--if a run takes me through somewhat muddy terrain these holes will get filled... Another detail that I do not like about these shoes are the laces. They feel cheap, weak, and I am convinced that their elasticity will decrease quite rapidly. Having said that, the laces, once tied, do not loosen up. Double knotting is not necessary. I am hoping I am wrong on the longevity of the laces. In summary, a solid, functional, and comfortable running shoe with couple of design details that probably won't work for everyone but they certainly are innovative.
