i already have a pair of these shoes so I know how great they are. Unfortunately when I received them they had clearly been worn and were dirty with scuff marks and dirt still caked in the grooves on the bottom. I’m extremely disappointed with Rei for allowing this to happen. For the price of these shoes they should be in brand new condition. To add insult to injury these are a Christmas gift and since just arrived today I won’t be able to exchange for a new pair before Christmas.
The fabric near the inside of the shoe wore away within the first three months of wear, I cannot wear these without thick running socks otherwise they will leave blisters. They are excellent shoes, very cute, well sized, comfortable, and super light. But ON really needs to fix this problem. I have seen multiple other people with intense wear in the same areas as mine.
LOVE LOVE this shoe ! In my mind it is the perfect travel sneaker to take on a short weekend trip where you can only pack 1 small carry-on because: - Works great with black jeans or leggings in the airport and sleek enough to wear walking all over a new city without worrying your feet will ache and blister - Can go for a run or work out in the hotel gym in the same shoes - So easy to slip on and off with the stretchy no-tie laces for going through airport security - So very very comfortable and uber light weight Only one annoying downside: if running or walking on any paths with gravel - this shoe will trap small rocks in the sole, which requires you to extract them mid-run.
I took these shoes for a couple runs with my dog through the city and did a trail run. These shoes have a strong enough support to handle the roads and enough support so I can feel confident running on the dirt and rocks. These shoes run true to size (similar to a Brooks or Asics).
I loved wearing this shoe in casual settings: walking the dog, around the office, doing weekend chores. It's great for those settings. I also am a more casual runner and tried these a few times on runs. The first run was just the product on its own - no changes made. I didn't love the experience - I didn't feel enough cushioning or support in the shoe, and the elastic lace structure wasn't tight enough for me. My next run, I swapped out the insoles for my orthotics and tightened the elastic band laces and had a much better experience. I'm a runner who doesn't like to feel too much of the road, so if that is how you prefer to run, these might be a good fit for you. If nothing else, the black looks great and these are a fantastic casual athletic shoe that I'll continue to use.
I tried these on a couple of trails near home and on a trip to Big Sur and loved them! The shoes are super lightweight and quick drying, perfect for whenever I underestimate the depth of a puddle on my runs. I found them great for trail running because of how light they are, but still feeling They're a very flexible shoe, but still comfortable and you can feel some support. I used the stretchy laces that come with the shoe and never felt the need to switch them out for regular laces, they feel secure enough on their own but there's still enough room in the shoe so you don't feel cramped.
I bought these shoes back in March. I love running, but not with these shoes. The first week I ran with them my feet hurt. I figured it wad just new shoe pain, but I ran in these shoes for a month and a half before I called it quits and switched to my trail runners. These are great for walking around and everyday wear, but I don't recommend running with them.
It's light weight and super comfortable. But, I'm little disappointed that it start to tear around the pinky toe area in seven months. I call REI, and I'm glad that they will take it back since it hasn't been a year yet.
I have been using the shoe for ~7 months and have been using it for 5-10 mile runs on treadmill/road without any issues. I have a wider toe and had complaints of developing corns with Asics - i tried multiple Asics shoes but the problem persisted. I haven't developed a single corn/blister ever since i switched to these shoes. Only con - the sole design makes it impossible to use on gravel as small pebbles get stuck in the grooves very easily.
I absolutely love these shoes. They're super cute and comfortable on my feet which are a bit wider and one of them pronates. I've worked out with them in Orangetheory and even hiked around Yosemite with these shoes. I've had them for a year now and they look nearly brand new after giving them a good wash. I have had to re-tie the knot to make them a little tighter since the elasticity in the laces stretches over time. I haven't tried switching them out with the regular laces, but I will probably do that eventually.
