Different material than the Capilene cool TRAIL
if anyone is curious, the capilene cool DAILY feels slightly different material than the capilene cool TRAIL. The Trail feels exactly like a soft cotton T-shirt, whereas the DAILY is soft no doubt, but is thin and stretchy enough to remind your body that it’s clearly a synthetic shirt. In general, I prefer the thickness of the Trail because it allows me to wear it as a regular T-shirt when I’m traveling. The DAILY feels too thin to be worn by itself unless you are shredded.

Reinventing the Wheel
Sadly, always the same issue lately with Patagonia's amazing Capilene Baselayers. The issues with this long sleeve: sleeves on a size small are cut to fit a 6.0 male and cuffs are wide to fit your biceps -not your average size small wrists. Fabric will stretch (length and neck) from size Small to XL in only a few months of wear. Stitching is not as "silky" nor as "soft" as it used to be. This review is for the "Solid" fabric which is very different than their "Heathered" I purchased several current style Capilene T's "heather" and waiting to see how fabric performs.

The Only Long Sleeve You Need

This long sleeve is probably the best shirt I've used for all my active pursuits (in warm weather and cool weather). Fit: Overall fit of the shirt is "just right." Neither overly tight nor super loose. The midsection is slightly loose, allowing me to move without being restricted. The sleeves push-up really easily onto my forearms. Feel: Like butter. This shirt is airy without being overly thin. The best part is the UPF 50 fabric; I don't have to wear sunscreen while in the mountains or on the ocean while paddling. I wear this as a baselayer in temps 40F - 90F. Very breathable, wicks sweat, and dries fast. Longevity: I've owned multiple Capilene Daily LS's for 3 years and I have not noticed the cuffs stretching out. I have seen a thread or two come loose.

Disappointing loose, overly long fit

I have several older Capilene long-sleeve shirts that I bought in the large size a few years ago and they've always fit well. This large Capilene shirt has an odd fit: its fit is loose and overly long while the older versions of the shirt fit just right. I've bought multiple Capilene shirts over several years and their size and fit were consistent. I'm not convinced that a medium size of today's Capinene would work. Perhaps Patagonia is using a different manufacturer, but they should reconsider their size labelling -- or the use of that factory.

Great shirt

I'm 6 feet, .5 inch tall, around 185 pounds (with a few extra around the waist); 44-inch chest; 35 inches from spine to finger tips with arm extended straight out to side (90º from body). I have this shirt in a large, darker-blue heather color. Purchased early 2020. I got this mainly as a work shirt in warm weather to keep the sun off my arms as an alternative to messy sunblock lotion. Works great for this. Doesn't feel too clingy when drenched in sweat, dries out relatively quickly. Stretchy, but not overly so. No stinkier than any other shirt with extended use between washing. Patagonia sizing for me can be hit or miss, but large (what i usually take) is spot on. Fit throughout is relaxed and comfortable without being baggy. Overall length (about five inches below waist band of pants) is spot on, as is sleeve length. Cuffs are a bit loose with the sleeves fully extended, but tight enough to stay in place if you pull the sleeves up onto the forearms. It could be used as a base layer under other layers, but it might be a bit loose for that. Fabric feels smooth and soft without feeling slippery. No chafing issues with seams. After some months of use, there are still no runs, pulls, or snags in the fabric, which can be an issue with fabrics this thin and light. No pilling either. Plan to get a couple of more of these.

Capilene Cool best hiking shirt ever!

I do not often offer reviews of any product, but this is hands-down the most comfortable, lightweight hiking shirt I have ever worn. I have paddled and hiked hundreds of miles in this shirt, including temperatures above 100 degrees and this shirt stays comfortable and odor free. Highly recommended!

Has become an everyday shirt, wicks sweat

I live in humid Florida and this shirt has entered my weekly rotation. If you get sweaty, give it 20-30 minutes and you are sweat free

Fantastic shirt for heat/sun

Fantastic sun shirt. This 2nd one is an extra, though the first is holding up well. I wear it on the river mainly while paddling but have worn it while swimming in the gulf. Keeps my shoulders from burning. Also this shirt is incredibly lightweight and breathable so I can wear it comfortably on humid 95 degree days. Kinda like not having a shirt on. Dries quickly. Doesn't get funky. All around a great shirt.
