The only shirt you'll need.
I try to keep my wardrobe small. This can be hard when you introduce varying hobbies and have to consider work and meeting people for drinks. The goal is to find clothing that works well for week long adventures and won't look too weird when punching in and out or flying into a city. I'm proud to say this shirt outperforms the others I've retired in the past. You can wash it in a steam and it dries while you eat dinner, it keeps the funk factor to a low, you can wear it under a uniform or snow gear with little notice, and it comes in enough colors that people don't realize you only own 4 shirts. The warranty also means once the last underachiever shirt gets replaced with one of these, that's it for life. For t shirts anyway.

Hardly worn and already pilling.
I bought this shirt less than a month ago and I've worn it twice. It's been washed twice as well and it's already pilling around the front of the neckline on the outside. The shirt is really thin and really soft which is nice for like a summer hike, but I didn't expect to have it start to pill on the neckline on the outside where nothing has touched it. I'm a big Patagonia supporter but I feel that for the price of this shirt, the quality should be better and not start looking like it's 10 years old less than a month after purchasing.

Not what it used to be

I bought this shirt in January 2020 and it quickly became my favorite T. It is soft and it looks great! I read a review saying they had changed the fabric at some point but I chose to ignore it and bought a couple more off the Patagonia site. Well, the reviewer was right and, judging by the REI reviews, it looks the “formula” was changed in approximately April 2020 because that’s when the number of stars in the reviews plummeted. I can’t speak to its performance yet but the fabric definitely feels more synthetic and a little rigid.

Best shirt ever

So soft and comfortable. My husband wears it all the time and raves about how great it is. Fits perfectly. Doesn’t stretch out of shape.

Great product

Feels like soft cotton. Doesn't stretch when wet. Wore them on a through hike with no issues. Washed well and kept their shape when line dried.

Great shirt for outdoor activites

The Patagonia capilene cool trail shirt was a great shirt to use on a recent trip to Kauai. It fits well, keeps you cool, stays dry and didnt smell like it had been worn all day under the sun. Wore it hiking and zip lining. It was aces in my book. Highly recommend.

Best t shirt period

I wear this shirt to do everything. When it’s hot a humid like it is here then you where this shirt to stay cool and light.

Nice, light, but it pills

Nice shirt. Feels warmer than a quick-dry athletic shirt, thicker too. I've noticed it has begun to pill after a few washes. Won't buy more because of that. I'll stick with the quick-dry athletic shirts.

Soft, but this thing stinks!!!

Bought this about a year ago, it is soft very comfy, but holds BO and absolutely reeks. Went back to wool, which costs more, but doesn't gross out my family. I'm mostly a weekend warrior, and don't subject this shirt to extended or daily wear, so was surprised that BO was such an issue, thought newer gen capilene had resolved it. Have been bike commuting for over a decade and have been wearing wool for daily use w/ no bo issues.

Nice shirt but fits tight

This is a nice shirt. The fabric is very soft and it is well made, but it is a cut very slim. I am 5'7" and weigh 155 bs and I wear small in most Patagonia items. This shirt fits very snug n the shoulders and chest area, and I'll have to return it. The sleeve lenght and overall shirt length were good, so I expect the medium to be too long.
