Great ultra lightweight shirt option for those really warm hikes. Fabric feels very comfortable on the skin and it doesn't have that clingy feeling that some athletic shirts have. Wicks sweat very well and keeps you cool on warm days. Lightweight clothing always has a trade-off between weight and durability, but I haven't had any durability issues in the 10 months I've owned it. Medium fit me well. 5'6" 180lbs and a stocky build. Bit tight on the arms and shoulders but the fabric stretches nicely.
After wearing an $80 Nike dri-fit shirt for the first hot month of my hike, I badly wanted a lighter fabric that would breath more and, more importantly, dry faster. With the Nike, I would wake up in the morning to a shirt still wet with yesterday's sweat. This Patagonia shirt does a far better job. After extremely excessive sweating it can take a bit of time to dry, but under normal conditions (and normal thru-hike conditions are being worn 12 hours a day for months at a time) it performs well. Beyond that, the shirt is very durable. After wearing it under a backpack for months, there is some piling where the pack straps were, but otherwise there's no signs of wear. No holes, no stains. Excellent shirt that surpasses gear twice its price.
I wanted a very lightweight shirt that fit nice and looked good. I have found t-shirts that have too wide of a neck area, too heavy, too short in length with longer sleeves, etc. I don't need to look anywhere else! These shirts fit so well and feel great. I run warm to begin with, so in summer when I have to be decent out-and-about, sometimes I have to wear a t-shirt and these are my go-to now! I don't have any experience with durability, but I don't anticipate to be backpacking or anything that might rub and pill the shirt. As with all Patagonia products, I rest assured with their guarantee in case I run into any issues.
I’m in search of shirts for backpacking in hot and humid weather so I purchased this lightweight capilene shirt and an Icebreakers Strike Lite shirt. The Patagonia is very light and very cool but it’s antistink Polygiene treatment is not perfect. Compared to a 1980’s polypro it’s amazing but after three days the pits were starting to smell. The Icebreaker was much better in this regard. I haven’t had any wear issues on the Patagonia yet but it is very thin. Between the two, the Patagonia has become my go-to for trail running—it is so cool and comfortable. I also like how it fits. The Icebreaker (merino wool, lyocell, nylon, and spandex) has a little lycra so it fits closer to the body. The Patagonia is also half the price of Icebreaker if you are looking for a cheaper option. I’m hoping to get a long hike in where I will use both shirts over many days and then I will update my review on what I learn.
This is a BA running or hiking shirt. It is very nice as well. However, that will quickly end. It is the lightest shirt I have ever owned. The material dries so fast that you can put it on wet and be on your way. The only downfall is durability. The shirt is covered in pulls and loose threads around the collar after two wash and hangs. Obviously, this does not impact the functionality of the shirt. I plan on wearing this until it falls apart to shreds.
I love this shirt, but the fit is very much on the small side, so think about ordering a size up.
This is the lightest top I own. The fabric is breathable with a slight stretch. I prefer this top to the Patagonia Ridgeflow t-shirt for running because it is lighter. The Ridgeflow is a bit more breathable, though. I wear this running and playing pickleball. I own this in 2 colors and the fit is great. I'm 5'10" 155 lbs and a medium fits well. I wear a medium in most of my other tops.
The look and feel is great, but it won't stand up to normal wear and tear. If you handle it with rough fingernails or dry skin you are likely to snag it. After 3 or 4 wears, it looked so roughed-up I returned it.
I wore this today. Hot and Muggy. By far the best running shirt I ever bought for this hot weather. Extremely lightest running shirt I own. And did the best job of wicking out the sweat!!
My first time wearing this was on a short 5 miles day hike. It has holes all along where my hip belt rested and my shoulder straps touched. My pack was lightweight and not all that tight. For the price this shirt is not worth it. The fit is good and the material feels nice in the heat, but I would expect more durability out of a shirt this expensive.
