Outdoor Research  Ferrosi Hooded Jacket - Men's

Day to day use and outdoor use bouldering/exploring . Worked in it one day and snagged the cuff with a sawzall blade and snapped the fabric roughly and no damage at all nothing . I now own 2 ferrosi jackets one hoody and one summit. The jackets look stylish and casual in casual clothes and do their duty in the outdoors.The hoody is my go to gear pull when going out . I have not been wet in light rains and get good chill protection from its wind resistance. I actually like wearing them which is not easy to find. I waited long in buying one but after the first I filled other blank spots outfitting with the same product in different roles. Score!

One of my favourite and most versatile mid layers ever! I wear it under my jacket in the winter, when skinning or bootpacking it gives good protection from the elements , snow wind and minor rain. While the breathability allows heat and perspiration to be expelled very well... in summer I use it biking, hiking , or for whatever . I own 2 hooded and 1 non hooded ferrosi jackets ... none show signs of wear and tear , one being too old to remember when i got it , one 3 years old and 1 new one. I wear one of the three nearly everyday and I'm not the easiest on my gear ... so Impressed with this material ... don't know what I would do without them...

I own the three year old version of Ferrosi Hoody in a size XL, which is too big for me in every way -- chest, sleeve length, even body length. I have only used it over a puffy or fleece because it is so big. I bought the new version in a size large and was surprised at what a huge difference it was from the old version. The new version is skin tight through the body and the sleeves are so short I can't comfortably use the thumb holes. Everything other than the fit is great. It is impossible to believe that and XL (old version) is way too large and that the L in the new version is definitely too small. I am 6'1", 185, with a 33" waist.

Great piece of gear. I am going to buy another next year and go up a size. I bought an XL and it would be snug if I layer anything under it. I am 6' 226lbs and most XL coats fit me. This is a more athletic fitting. With that said I love the jacket. I wore it on a trip this weekend into DC. I had a long sleeve shirt on underneath it and the temp was high 50s low 60 s when we left. The temp climbed throughout the day into the high 70s maybe 80s and I had to take it off. I was plenty comfortable with just the long sleeve on with the Ferrosi as an outer layer. Great Jacket highly recommend. It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

I am an avid outdoorsman and compete in extreme military survival competitions. These are the best jackets.. ever. The stretchy makes it super comfy. The shell is just the right amount of thickness to be used as a windproof and damp proof layer. It packs up so small I can throw it in my bag all the time. The color selections and fit are perfect. I am 5'10" and athletic build, the medium is perfect for me. OR is setting the standard for outdoor wear these days. This jacket is a must have. My wife and I both wear them. In fact, I don't think I've seen my wife without it on for a year now. Might need to talk to her about that.

Great layer to keep light rain and moderate winds at bay on your adventures. I bought a Large. I'm 5'9". @ 214lbs the fit was tighter, but now at 196lbs it's a a lot better. My OR Radiant Fleece is the most I would layer underneath. Consider one size larger for layering. My OR Furio Jacket (L) layers great over top for downpours. Very breathable on its own, not uncomfortable with the Furio over top. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to run it through its paces in the Canadian Rockies, yet. Right now my adventures are limited to stroller pushing and dog walks on local trails. Once I'm back to full on hiking, backpacking and climbing, I wouldn't leave home without it.

I bought my Ferrosi jacket before a climbing trip to Joshua Tree and I was very impressed with how it held up. It's supremely light and packable, but offers good rain and wind resistance. The clincher for me, however, is that it's crazy difficult to rip! I spent 7 days cramming my hands and arms into cracks and scraping my body against rocks - basically putting it through the mother of all abrasion tests - and it came out without the slightest snag or tear and still fending off water just as well as before. The Ferrosi is a versatile and durable windbreaker and a must for any outdoor climber's arsenal of jackets.

I use this for mountain biking and cycle commuting year round in all kinds of weather. I recently layered it over my puffy when it was -18 C and it worked great. Normally my waterproof/breathable would keep all the moisture in and I'd be soaked by the time I'm done my ride, but with this, it lets most of the moisture out, and I'm significantly drier. On the warmer days, -10 and above, I can wear it with just a baselayer and light sweater and it performs perfectly. Keeps the weather off, and lets the sweat out. I wish it was available in flashier colours for visibility when commuting, and I wish it was a little longer, but I'm 6'5" and have trouble getting anything long enough.

Bought this for a road trip from NC to AK. Wore it on several hikes throughout the trip. Incredible jacket. Dumps heat during strenuous portions of hike and serves as good basic layer for cool weather and some wind. Also worked incredibly well as a layer over my ascendant hoody. Also kept me dry in light to moderate rain. The thumb loops are perfect. My buddy borrowed it for a few hikes and I had to wrestle it from him when he flew out. Bought the diablo and it looks great. 5'11 180 pounds medium fit me perfectly. Will be buying a few more in different colors. Can't say enough great things about this jacket

I work at night doing wildlife surveys in the woods driving ATVs. I'm 6' 186lbs and the jacket fits well over a mid layer fleece and cuts the wind nicely to about 18 mph. So not as robust as a true hardshell but the breathiblity is excelllent. I often have to clear logs and brush out of the roads and the jacket keeps me warm without breaking a sweat and freezing plus the stretch fabric allows full range of motion. The tougher fabric on the shoulders and arms is a nice feature, wards off pulls and runs in the fabric from abuse on rocks or snagging on brush. The DWR treatment beads up fog and drizzle nicely.
