Sizing Notes
All measurements are stated in inches.
Measuring instructions: wrap a string around the widest part of your head 0.4 to 0.8 in. (1-2 cm) above the top of your ears and brow line. Add 0.8 in. (2 cm) for comfort. Measure string with ruler using final measurement to find head circumference and size needed.

Great in the wind
I bought this hat for sailing and have been very pleased so far. The front and back cord system is very effective for keeping it on my head, and it is very light and cool with its mesh ventilation. The green color is also lovely - with the fedora-ish shape, I feel like a character in a Dick Tracy comic. For sizing, I used the size guide on Tilley's website to measure my head and got a perfect fit. I have a very small head (6 7/8), so it was great to find a hat that actually fit perfectly. My husband has a large head (7 7/8) and had the same positive experience with a different Tilley hat. I also love that it is water repellent and will smash flat for packing. The cord system does have the potential to get in the way if you aren't wearing the hat in the wind. I am able to tuck the cords up inside the had when I don't need them, but it works less well for my husband's larger hat which, consequently has longer strings. He tucks the front one up to keep it out of the way and wears the less obtrusive back string all the time. It is also worth noting that this hat has a lifetime guarantee if you manage to actually wear it out. Worth the money, especially if you can find it on sale! I'm going to be wearing this for much more than sailing!
