There’s a brass threading which screws onto a fuel can, this is in turn threaded into the blue regulator piece on the stove body. On day two of a four day solo backcountry hunting trip, the brass threading pulled out of the regulator piece and stuck on the fuel can. I could not unscrew the brass threading from the fuel can, and trying to screw the stove back on, caused a lot of fuel to leak. I was using a 230g Olicamp 4 season fuel mixture, it should not have been a problem. I would have had to cut the trip short if not for my titanium wood stove in my tent. But I still had to plan for longer boil times in the morning and evening, and carry the dead weight and space off the fuel can and stove. I always used the plastic storage case for the stove, but this was the second time I’d ever used it. I expected better. My $15 BRS stove from Amazon lasted three years of hard use.
I've used a stove for 5 years maybe longer I see that it's no longer available but I thought I'd write a review anyway. I primarily use it for my boundary Waters trips every year and I use it pretty much exclusively to make coffee in the morning which it does really well it boils a leader in my aluminum coffee pot in right around 4 minutes and very efficiently I would say for backpacking it might be a little bulkier since the main burner is wider than most compared to other stoves in this weight sub 2 oz but it's always made some good coffee out in the middle of nowhere. Self igniting would only make it better but heavier so is what it is.
I've used the Kinetic Ultra over multi-day trips, while car camping, and even at home. It's a great little stove that burns hot and uses fuel efficiently. It was designed to work with the Olicamp XTS Pot, which is a fantastic combination. My only complaint is that there is no windproofing on the stove, so make sure to shelter it (as you usually should anyways) and maybe bring a windscreen.
The Olicamp Kinetic Ultra stove is light and boils a liter of water quickly. We have used it on various backpacking trips with success.
I purchased this stove to replace an MSR whisper lite due to pack weight and overall weight of the MSR. This stove is an absolute burner of a stove! My only complaint with this stove is the valve. It’s pretty touchy and takes some getting used to. But once you figure it out it’s a great stove! My pro tip for the use of it is that it needs to be turned up when you initially light it off. As the metal heats, dial it back. If you hear a popping or wind noise, you either need to turn up the fuel or turn it down. Also the temperature of the cook pot and contents does affect the desired fueling. Due to this, is why I think the valve needs refinement. I highly enjoy and like OliCamp products, they are top notch and much better than the establishment brands.
