This Lantern is good to go
Nice compact lantern puts out three levels of light that is bright enough to be really useful in such a small footprint. The lantern folds up and down easily and can be easily be stashed in a jacket pocket, backpack or even a carried in suitcase for a traveler. If solar charging is unavailable or you need a quick charge just use the included usb cable. One improvement to this lantern I would like is to simply have a clip or way to attach the usb cable to the lantern for safekeeping. Otherwise, this is a good little Lantern.
Great light, only lasted 2 summers.
A great light, when it worked. Very bright. The handle and side loops are convenient to hang it or mount it by. The ability to recharge it via Solar and USB is pretty awesome. You know you are going to go out with a good charge and if you leave it out during the day, it will top it off for you by evening. We never ran the battery down camping, it lasted through at least 4 hours of darkness. The ability to collapse it is great, it takes up no space and is very light. We used it car camping, but it would be worth packing in on a family or group backpack camping trip. My only complaint, and its a big one is that it only lasted us 2 summers before it failed. I did like it enough though that I plan to get another one .
Works! Simple! Durable
This little guy is perfect. Look no further. In your tent it has a calm efficient glow. Pick it up and point it and it makes a great spot light if you need to grab something. Fills the campsite enough if you want a night light. Solar works well and power cell USB tops it off quickly. Durable and simple.
Shelf life of 2-3 years then starts disintegrating
These were part of our "Hurricane" backpack for a couple years, but I realized the plastic/rubber was starting to break down and get tacky...it didn't take long for the rubber accordion area to start breaking and cracking at the folds. This is good while it lasts, but they're fairly disposable after a few years. Also notice the frosting of the solar area. I bought two of these and this is the last one. Needs to be tossed now, but the first one was tossed about 6 months ago since it just stopped working all together.

Great light but the top handle snapped in two
I loved this little solar lamp, but the handle only lasted two months and our relationship devolved. I have three solar lights, a flashlight, and another camping light. I still prefer the light quality and color from the Goal Zero Crush, but the little green plastic handle should have lasted a lot longer. It simply snapped in two, and I only treated it gently. My guess is the little top handle was not sun-ready quality and perhaps became brittle sitting on the dash of my car where it lived during a recent camping trip so it would charge in the daylight.
Excellent warm light
Up front, hold the power button for a long time to get it out of demo mode, it looks like this tripped people up. On to the Review. Bought one at a garage sale to try it out. There were several for sale because the solar panel has gotten scratched. If you want it to stay in perfect condition while you use it, I suspect this isn't your product. But if you prefer to use your gear and want a light weight, small lantern than provides excellent warm light, this is it. Popping open the lantern and hanging it has the sides act as a lamp shade, so it's very bright underneath the light but doesn't hurt your eyes. I plan to purchase at least one more, probably two for an upcoming trip.
Amazed by how much I love it
Bought this lantern on a whim for an upcoming backpacking trip, and have tested it out on a couple of car camping trips. I wasn't sure how bright it would be, but it far exceeded expectations. I hang it from the loop in the top of my tent with a tiny carabiner and I can read and find things when I'm getting ready to sleep. Plus, it just makes the tent look friendly and softly lit. Love the multiple brightness settings. Fair warning - the USB charge cord is tucked inside of the packaging. If you aren't careful (I am not), you'll snip right through it opening the package. It's been doing just fine charging off of solar power so I haven't missed it yet, but I do wish I had it just in case.
Not all it's cracked up to be
I have loved this lantern. It has served me well and made me feel at ease in times of bad weather. It's nice to know that it will work without having to change batteries either at a set time or when you least expect it. The only reason it's not 5 stars is the 2 cracks in the plastic I can only assume is a combination of use and dry rot.
Versatile Crush Light
I have 2 other types of crush lights and this one is much more heavy duty. The handle is removable and there are 2 loops on opposite edges for hanging the light or securing it. You can expand it to different levels or only on one side, which may be handy when charging it via the small solar panel on top. Note: The light arrives in demonstration mode, so that when one turns it on, it displays in order the 3 levels of lighting, then automatically turns off. To remove it from demo mode, depress the on/off button for 10 to 15 seconds.
Perfectly Convenient
Firstly, the bad reviews seem to mostly be from people who can't read directions. Ignore those. Been using this little lantern on my last few backpacking trips and I am in love with it! Converts nicely from tabletop to tree branch to tent loop to minimize the need for headlamp usage at camp. Also love that I can just clip it to my pack and have it charge all day while I'm hiking; no batteries or cords to keep track of (though you can certainly bring a portable charger and use that also if you won't be seeing much sun). I will say that at its highest power it won't last the whole night, but the lower settings are plenty bright for most tasks. Would definitely buy this little guy again!
