Outstanding shoes
comfortable hiking shoes
I just got back from from a week in Ireland. Lots of walking, some city walking, while also walking at Hill of Tara, Newgrange and Howth. I never even gave these shoes a second thought. They were always very comfortable and gave me great support. I may get a second pair.

I've had 3 pairs of the original version of this shoe over the years and loved them. Oboz messed with the design and now I can not wear this new version, they're too narrow. even tried going up in size. My wife has had the same problem with the women's version. looks like we're both switching to another brand, pitty.

After two months, the outsole started to detach

After two months, the outsole started to detach. Right at the toe. I was pretty disappointed obviously since these boots and Oboz in general get such great reviews for durability. And I didn't even wear them hiking yet, just breaking them in by mowing the lawn, landscaping my yard, etc. Picture is attached. On a positive note, these are the most comfortable out-of-the-box hikers I've ever worn and I've logged probably 1500 miles over the past 15 years. And one call to REI and they made it right. Very happy with their customer service. Returning the Sawtooth II hikers and going with the Salomon ultra low 3s instead.

Love the shoes, very comfortable and great feel! I had nasty treatment at REI, very dry and abrasive sale staff!

Poor Quality

I liked these shoes when i bought them. I have bad flat feet and these offer good support. I do not hike in these shoes i wear them to work in an office. After 6 months they are falling apart. The black rubber is coming apart where it meets the gray rubber and the front tongue is peeling. I have worn nike, columbia, salomon, north face, merrel, and have never had this happen on any of those. This was my first time with oboz and i am pretty disappointed especially for the price!

Great on trail

This is my first time to try Oboz hiking shoe. I tried it yesterday, it was great, so comfortable and light, no need to break in like some other shoe.

An excellent hiker

I'll admit upfront that I've only spent about 15 or 16 hours in these shoes so far and haven't been on anything rougher than a crushed limestone surface rail-trail. That said, the Oboz fit great and are super-comfortable. They ARE noticeably heavier than what I was wearing previously, but I knew that going into it. Can't wait to get them out for some hiking this summer! As an aside, my wife has a narrow foot and is hard to fit. An REI store associate recommended the women's version of this shoe to her about a year and a half ago, and my wife couldn't be happier with the choice.

Very Supportive everywhere they need to be.

I did not buy these shoes at REI, but thought i would share my thoughts. I have owned several different brands of hiking shoes/boots in the past. All reputable name brands. NONE of the past shoes even come close to the outstanding support and stability these shoes provide, yet still remain flexible. They were comfortable right out of the box too. Great traction wet or dry. Not too light and not too heavy, feels like i have good protection over a light weight runner would have. Good toe and heel wrap. A great hiker for the money.. Have spent more for a lot less before. Definitely found my new favorite..

Great so far n

I bought a pair of Sawtooth II just yesterday after walking about five years, almost daily, in an early version of what is now Firebrand. The pre-Firebrands took almost a year to break in (seriously complicated by a nasty bunion) but then became my favorite shoes ever—until at last they wore town to the point of where I was staggering like a drunken sailor. I finally went to buy new shoes and first tried on up-to-date Firebrands, which had promise. Then almost by accident I tried on Sawtooth II, which by comparison, felt like standing in foot paradise even with the nasty bunion. It’s too soon to know how they will break in, but, walking is already AN existential pleasurE I have the highest hopes for the future.

Pain free feet on day 1!

Amazing shoes! I have been using Keen hiking shoes for the past 5+ years due to different leg lengths, a broken toe, plantar fasciitis, and chronic shin splints. My feet constantly ache, even with my custom orthotic with a lift. The day I switched to these shoes, my feet felt like they did when I was a teenager again. The toe doesn’t flex like my old shoes did, it’s a much more secure fit, and doesn’t feel suffocating. I love these!

First pair of "real" hiking shoes

Started hiking during the pandemic and used a pretty worn out pair of trail runners. As my miles increased, my feet just couldn't keep up because of my shoes. A store employee recommended these since I wanted a lightweight hiking shoe and I couldn't be happier! They're definitely chunky but still lightweight, supportive, and very waterproof! I also went up 2 sizes to a size 12 since I've never had my foot measured from heel to ball and the difference is amazing. My foot no longer slides inside of the shoe and though it feels a bit big, the performance is well worth it.
