Almost perfect
Great quality shoe with excellent craftsmanship it has held up well from all the abuse I’ve thrown at it. I’ve seen some reviews about how these shoes don’t hold up like other redwings but my experience has been good so far. Had these for over 2+ years now and this has been my primary travel shoe. From Abu Dhabi, Istanbul, Vancouver, San Francisco, LA, Toronto, Montreal, Philippines, Seoul, Taipei, Tokyo, London, Dublin, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Bahrain and Frankfurt these shoes have been everywhere and every terrain from rain and mud to cobblestones. From airport lounges to navigating the London Underground. Only complaint would be insole could be a little bit more comfortable and they do take a while to break in initially but couldn’t be happier with these.
Thank you for your review! We are glad to hear that your boots are working well for you, no matter the terrain. We hope to continue to serve you in the future!
Your search is over...
I looked at these boots and loved the look and Red Wing name but just couldn't do the price. Shopped around and around and around and nothing compared to the look and combination of style and quality----so I bit the bullet and have not regretted a second of it. These boots are rugged, stylish, and comfortable. I keep staring at my feet..... Yes, they are expensive and yes the are snug at first---just like a cowboy boot you have to let the leather form and stretch to your specific foot. Fit is true to size but if you are going to have a problem with the snug break in period---order a half size up if you have wide or thick feet.
Great light weight Red Wing boot
I wear a size 11 Chuck, size 11 Blundstones. Size 10.5 in Red Wing Blacksmith boot. 11D in 1907 Moc toe. In these I’m 11D. They fit perfectly and are comfortable right out of the box for me. If you have a wide foot I believe even if the length is correct you’ll have a tough break in. They’re light weight for Red Wings. Comfortable and well made. They have a narrow look that I like.
LOVE! (Bring back black!)
I bought my weekender over 8 years ago. Wear them everyday. Same soles and treated them like a work boot, camp boot and going out boot. They have held up beautifully. My only issue is …bring back the black and I will order more!!!!
We are so glad to hear you are happy with our service and products! Thank you for leaving us this review, we really appreciate it!

Took quite some time, but they're my favorite boot
I normally don't write reviews.. I LOVE the look of these boots, and LOVE the chelsea style. Taking them out of the box I was stunned. They look absolutely incredible. The CR&T Leather has awesome coloring. BUT... They were so tight across the top of my feet that they were almost unwearable. Now, being a redwing fan and having them in the past, I have experienced this before. Pretty quickly they loosened up a bit to the point where they are wearable but still really tight. After a few months of wearing them everday.. They are now my favorite boots and were worth the pain. They are so comfortable that they have turned into what looks very dressy but feels like a slipper. I wear them nearly everyday, and the days that I do not I am wearing my Moc Toe boots. I was skeptical buying them but looking back I am really glad that I did. They are made really well and seem to be holding up well a few months in. The only thing I do to care for them is oil them up with Bick4 and brush them with a horsehair brush and they look good as new. They have worn in super nicely.
Thank you for your review! We are glad to hear that your boots are working well for you, minus the rough break in period. We hope to continue to serve you in the future!
If only they didn't fall apart...
Great fit, slipper comfortable, super minimal drop, broke in easily, love the look...But....The sole separated from the welt less than a month after purchase. I will be returning these and doubt I'll try another pair.
Favorite boot, not durable
Bought them a year ago just to wear out, the bottom sole started to separate. From reading other reviews I guess I will just glue them. Definitely not happy with the quality for how much they cost me
Thank you for the review. This boot is repairable, we should be able to get these stitched up for you complimentarily! Please stop in locally or contact us at consumer.reviews@redwingshoes.com to see your options!
Poor quality.
I bought these Chelsea a month ago and stitching on the elastic already popped (basically medial high Achilles). I have been wearing Red Wing shoes for the past 7 years, these being my 10th pair, and none of them have failed like this, not even on my 2016 Iron Rangers. These boots were barely into the break in stage; I had only wore them around the house and short trips like for groceries to ease into them. I really wanted to like these boots as they're handsome and started to get comfortable. I'm incredibly dissapointed.
I am sorry that this has happened. I will email you to provide assistance.
I...Must...Break You
Bought my standard RW size 10 and could barely get these onto my feet. I would have gone up to a 10.5 but I felt some heel slippage. Like others have said, they are insanely tight across the top bridge...painful even. I put on some thick wool socks and jammed my feet in there. The shopkeep assured me they would break. My hawthorne weekender chukkas really gave way. I'm going on wear #7 for the chelseas in cr&t and I feel like they are just starting to give. What's helped? Perseverance. And balls. Baseballs. At night I've shoved a baseball under the bridge of each, not too far so they get stuck, but enough to loosen them up. Good luck. The boots look amazing btw.
Good All Around Shoe
I got these as I was tired of tying my boots every time the dog wanted to go for a walk last winter. Nevermind the fact that we have a fenced yard, the dog thinks he gets three walks everyday regardless of the weather. Anyways, these do the job for that in all conditions, have done well in the office for the 6 times I've put on a collared shirt in the last year, worked fine when covering 13 miles in NYC (arguably better than running shoes have worked for me in the past), and are all around a great shoe. Haven't looked into resoling these but imagine that'll be a thing at some point (brief google search suggests these can be resoled but do your own research please).
