The Mountaineer's Bible

The principles of mountaineering are all here: rock and ice climbing, rope work from running belays to full pitched climbing, glacier travel, and complementary skills like leadership, expedition planning, and first aid. It isn't a monolith that can always stand on its own, but it introduces topics and tells you what you need to know. As long as you read this book with the mindset of always learning and challenging yourself, you'll be in good shape.
