I've been wearing The Beast for 20 yrs (long time pronator). These shoes are a huge disappointment. They are "sloshy", meaning the fabric uppers are very thin and flimsy. The toe box is wide, but it very flimsy. I feel I am "floating" in them. I own a pair of 2014's, and recently bought some 2016's on Ebay. The moment my feet slipped into the 2016's, I knew I was home. Very similar to the 2014's. I don't know what's going on at Brooks, but I recommend you buy older Beasts, or wait until 2020.
I have two pair and wear them nearly every day. My feet have taken a beating over time and the support is just what I need now. I discovered Brooks back in the mid-80's when i tried their stability model to help control my pronation and wobbly strikes. I started wearing the Beast in the late 90's and have stuck with it ever since. It is a lot of shoe and it can feel heavy at times so it is not for you if you want a high-performance featherweight racing shoe. However, it delivers stability, comfort, and performance on all surfaces, and I probably would not still be running if I had not found the Beast.
I've worn Brooks Beasts for 15 years. The current model is the worst I've ever owned. Within a couple of weeks of wearing them the ankle collar on one shoe had a hole worn in it (and within another couple of weeks the other shoe had a hole in that ankle collar). It appears to be made of tshirt type material. Seriously Brooks?!?!? I half way expect them to start making the shoes out of tissue paper. It's my understanding that Beast are for support and motion control. I expect the shoe to be heavier than a shoe that's for a neutral stride and/or someone that doesn't need motion control. There's no need to mess with a good shoe which is what it appears that they are trying to do. The shoes that I got around 2010-2014 were good shoes. They held up for a decent amount of time and didn't disintegrate within a month or so. I gave this model two stars because it does seem like the tread has lasted a little longer before wearing out than the previous models. Nothing setting the world on fire but a little better. If Brooks doesn't go back to the shoe that worked for so many people (I'm reading bad reviews on this model everywhere) I'm going buy a different brand next.
I don't know what I would do without these shoes. I have crazy flat feet and these support better than putting pro orthodics into normal shoes. Saves my whole body, I wear them daily as well as to run. Huge fan of the design upgrade to the '18 shoe in black--they actually look good with Jean's and sre somewhat stylish, in part bc they eliminated the white from the base. For the future please keep casual style in mind for your design, as I am forced to wear these every day haha. Would love to see some other earth and natural tone color options that are easy on the eyes like this black pair, like army green, dark brown, or maroon. Tbh I still hate the gray/blue color...looks geriatric with Jeans.
I've been meaning to send your team a message about how comfortable this shoe is. I've had tens upon tens running and hiking shoes over the years and as I've gotten older (I'm 73) I have had problems with my feet (bunions) from all the running I used to do and all the uncomfortable Italian shoes I used to wear at work! This shoe is the most amazing shoe I've ever had for my foot problems, I cringe when I have to put on regular shoes for evening functions etc. Please don't ever discontinue this shoe! If it's possible to make enhancements to it I will be the first in line to buy it! Thanks.
First time Brooks purchase and glad I did. For the last 90 days have worn these daily racking up about 700 miles (8 miles a day) walking the dog about 6 miles a day on mainly concrete with about 2 miles around the house. Best shoes I have ever acquired while running about 13 half marathons over the years using other manufacturers. While a bit heavy in weight, these shoes are very comfortable, proper fit for my size 10, medium width and have been comfortable over all the miles. Highly recommend and will purchase again - worth the “bucks” for the comfort.
I really liked the beast 13 so much that when the 16 came out I tried them and decided to find 3 pairs of 13s to make it until hopefully the next beasts were better. They were not. I don’t know what type of person these shoes were for but they must not run. Way too much toe space. Shoes feel tippy and roll over easily. The heels are too short and way too much cheap material there. The mesh in the front is already starting to split. Wish I could return these. I don’t know that I will buy another pair of brooks after years of loving them.
Finally a running shoe that REALLY provides maximum support AND in a size 14.0. I tried other brands and while fine when new they gave up the sole support that my podiatrist and my physical therapist wanted for me. The heel cup adds to the rigidity of the foot and by changing my lacing pattern to hold my heel in the shoe this has become my new all round "go to" shoe. So much so that I just bought a second pair and may well add a third so that I have one when I need it. The name, Beast, only adds to the thrill of wearing them.
The 16 was a more durable supportive shoe. The 18 is a good walking shoe. Unfortunately, when I try to purchase in my size it is unavailable and the color ways are really ugly. I wish brooks would make an all black beast. It's such a let down because all the other brooks I have bought deteriorate even faster than these do....if brooks could increase the quality of the beast and offer better colors I wouldn't ever buy a different shoe...these aren't Jordan's and I don't understand why size 11 is unavailable smh
Other than a couple years of narrow toe box problems I’ve always been a Brooks fan. First time for the Beast, great shoe. Durable, excellent cush & 2E is plenty wide.
