This was not only my most used baselayer on the mountain last season, it was also my most worn piece in everyday life. I purchased one in my normal size in navy (i think a past season color?) and wore it mostly for skiing as it is quite fitted and the hood doubled as a balaclava when conditions warranted. I then purchased one size up in gray to wear off the mountain (though both sizes work for both.) I'm writing this review now right after purchasing my third in black... it's an investment but to me, worth it as I literally wore one of the two almost every day last winter. I also found myself throwing one on while camping over the summer. Also of note - I'm pretty sensitive to wool, and I don't find it too itchy, though I probably wouldn't wear it on completely bare skin. Noticed some pilling, but nothing a fabric shaver couldn't quickly take care of.
I didn't expect this to be as warm and insulating as it is. It's great, and even though it's an expensive piece and the fabric pills almost immediately, I am keeping it and wearing it on all my outdoor hikes. I would rate 5 stars except for the material appearing to pill almost immediately. It's so warm I don't mind it.
I have grown to love this hoodie! When i first opened it i was expecting a softer, almost fleece like material. It's definitely a rougher, sweater-like material, that after a few washes has softened a bit. It's extremely breathable! It's been perfect mid layer to throw over a tank top after hot yoga, keeps me warm, but not too warm for indoors. I've been wearing it under my down hoodie and it's been great for that transition from winter to spring but honestly I think this can work with any season. I plan to take it backpacking this summer too. It's also cute enough to wear casually around town. I never really leave reviews, but think maybe it could be helpful if someone out of the box is ambivalent as i was. Keep it!
I received this today, and although it’s cute, it’s not really what I had in mind. It’s very lightweight, and kind of sheer. This type of material will snag very very easily. I do love the hood/neck, and I think it will be fairly warm. If you do not like your shirts clingy, order a size up. I ordered size small and I’m 5’6”, 143 lbs, 34C. Small works for me, but medium might have been better
I didn't expect to love this as much as I do. I also didn't expect to reach for it first for almost every cool weather run, but I do. This is the perfect weight, breathable and warm. It looks like a nice sweater and can be dressed up easily. Easily one of my favorite Patagonia items.
I read reviews and I normally wear a medium/ large so I sized up to XL and I’m very happy! It’s soft, it’s stretchy, it’s warm, it’s not tight at all but it is form fitting so if you want extra material it lays nicely. I’m definitely looking forward to purchasing in other colors.
I love the way it looks, it is form fitting so I get complements when I wear it alone. Also it is very warm!!! I use it on a plane and anything outside in the winter. its my favorite winter base layer top.
This is warm but it breathes well so I don't sweat much in it, fit is trim but roomy at the same time due to the knit, neck is warm and cozy and keeps the drafts out and the hood comes on during really windy weather and replaces a less comfortable balaclava. I LOVE this!!!! Buy it and you will be psyched.
