Hands down the best trail running shoe I have had. I run all distances about 30miles being the longest distance run. This shoe is great for short and mid distance but also for longer knee and foot banging runs over 15+miles. These Ultra Pro’s offer a firm and grippy sole for tech stuff but a nice mid length tred for hard packed single track. If you have a wider foot I think these types of runners would enjoy it a bit more with the bigger toe box. I’d buy boxes of these to have once my current shoes keep breaking down. Nice work Salomon for this one!!! 5Stars
Bought these to run spartan races and excited to see how they feel while running. Seems like the mud and water won’t do much damage to them either. Even though the Speedcross 4’s are meant for mud runs they feel heavy and get weighed down by the mud and water easily while the material this shoe has seems like it will preform great in mud and water and stay light the entire time. Lugs are a decent size too for these races. Shoes were light and comfortable right of the box. Do run alittle large so I ordered half a size down and still have plenty of toe room and a thumbs space between my big toe and the tip of the shoe. Excited to race in them.
I have no complaints from these shoes at all. Took them for a relaxed 5 mile run out of the box then a 37 mile run with some buddies a couple days later. Absolutely no blisters and feet felt great (I always get blisters, even with very broken in shoes). Also used them for a 50 miler later and again, no blisters/foot problems at all. The cushioning is stellar without having a ridiculous stack height like Hoka's and while maintaining what feels like a fairly light shoe. I've only put 200-300 miles in them and the upper is still completely intact, no noticeable wear and tear besides the dirt on them. Absolutely no complaints and definitely will buy them once these hit the garbage in a few hundred more miles
Felt too short and I even went up a half size. The laces do not go far enough down into the toe box to allow for tightening on the lower foot. The color scheme was rad. Really wanted these to work but had too much lateral play in the forefoot for a standard width shoe (and I am even a wide in some styles). Forward movement would be fine, but I feared there would be too much play in a side to side ascent/descent. Big fan of Salomons across the board. Have owned several pairs of several styles on multiple deployments. Casual, hiking, running and boot. Will remain loyal. Sent tgese back ultimately for another set of Ultra 3D pros
I have about 10 pairs of trail shoes (all Salomon) in my closet and if I’m running over 20 miles I prefer the Ultra Pro. They run slightly big which is great for ultra distances to allow room for your feet to swell. As much as I’d love to be a forefoot striker, I’m not and these shoes are great for those that midfoot strike. They drain well, are light and offer fantastic grip on every type of terrain. So far I have used them on a couple 50 mile races and never had a blister. If you’re looking for a long distance shoe with plenty of cushion that you can still run fast in, check out the Ultra Pro.
Perfect balance of protection and flexibility, padding and low stack hieght. Solid grip on most ever type of terrain with a long lasting rubber compound on the sole. Just ran them on a tough trail marathon in wet weather and was very pleased with no hot spots or blisters. Absolutely the best trail shoe I have found. Only con was I did have to buy a half size smaller than what I usually wear in Salomons after taking them out for a few runs to be sure.
Plenty of toe room for individuals with normal, non wide feet. In addition to these my rotation includes the Lone Peak 3.5 so I definitely need more toe box. I’ve done 50 miles in these and so far good. A couple of the front lugs have started to deteriorate so I won’t comment on durability. Just had them in the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado and did 40 miles over 3 days of trail running on rocky, dry, some technical, tons of climbing and dropping down descents; no wet condition testing done. Definite buy.
I bought these shoes and a pair of Inoveight terra ultras around the same. Wanted to check out them out. All in all pretty much same performance. That said I usually wear Inoveight same am more used to them. The Ultrapros nice and comfortable on longer trail runs. The lacing system is great On rougher trails the uppers were a little stiff for my liking so felt like you were working against the ground. Personal preference though shoes are pretty goid. Am used to more grip but these aren’t designed for muddy trails etc overall when comparing both types have been using them equally. Will be interesting to see how they go in an Ultra trail race.
I had heard good things about the Ultra Pro and was hoping it would become my new go to trail shoe for longer runs and races. I had to size down a 1/2 size but the fit felt really good initially. First run was a 10mi loop i do regularly with some technical ups and downs and fast running rolling terrain. I'm glad I only ran 10 miles as afterwards my feet were so sore I couldn't run for two days! The combination of pressure from the wings at the mid-foot and the very firm midsole bruised the medial side of my foot and gave me sore ankles. Needless to say, one run and done.
Hello, Thank you very much for reaching out to us, sorry to hear about your recent experience with the Ultra Pro. We would like to hear more about your experience, please contact the customer service team on the website. https://www.salomon.com/en-us/contact.html Kind Regards.
These are the best all around trail runner that I've used from Salomon. They are comfortable out of the box and a little wider in the toe box compared to other models that I've worn. The have have a good feel and responsiveness to them so they are great for shorter runs as well as hold up over longer runs. The only room for improvement is that I wish the tread was more grippy as we get a lot of wet terrain where I run. I wore three pairs of these as I trained for competed in two 50km races in the summer of 2019 and the shoes held up well. Will buy these again.
