The INNO solution on my 13' Outback
So if you want a ski/snowboard hauler that is: a lower profile not flimsy but better built than both Thule and Yakima imo can open from either side clearance to open your rear hatch on an Outback easily but will still fit a bit longer (mine 188cm) pow skis has very streamlined look Then...take advantage of REI getting you one! Previous box (which I miss) was an Inno LoDown Cruiser. Best box I ever owned until this particular INNO Wedge 660 11 CF model. Sweedish Built means well uh...good. check it...turn your key to the open position and it won't come out...this is great as you can leave your box open rolling down the road or in the parking lock without fear of loosing it! Ingenious.
Exactly what I was looking for!
My old box was too short for my 180 powder skis and too tall to get into the garage on my new car. This takes care of both problems. Will easily fit 4 pairs of adult skis. I have a Mazda CX-5 and it will mount and allow the rear hatch open fully.
Streamlined easy-to-install and use cartop carrier
We were looking for a rooftop carrier to carry skis but didn't want something too bulky or as expensive as many of the carriers from the two major brands. After one week, we are very pleased with the INNO carrier! Here are some things that are good to know and which might not be highlighted elsewhere: - We installed it on our Subaru Outback and had plenty of room to lift the back door without any issues. And, it doesn't extend into our line of sight in the front either. - So far, we've used it for 2 pairs of skis and two sets of poles, but we could easily fit several more pairs. My skis are 71 inches and they fit easily, without having to put them diagonally. - The carrier opens from either side (but not at the same time), it is easy to open, and the lock is designed so that you can't lock your keys inside the carrier by mistake. - Installation took maybe ten minutes. Buying from REI was definitely a plus, as we backed up to their loading dock, they handed the carrier box out of the loading bay right onto the top of my car, and then I used the 4 clamps to secure it to the factory-installed rails on the top of the car. The box is designed so that it can work with cross rails wherever they may be located on the top of your car.
Great Roof Rack
Purchased the INNO Wedge 660 from REI for a recent road trip. The unit fit perfectly on our 2021 Outback and was easily installed (within 10 minutes). The low profile design looks great on the car. Wind noise was minimum and all contents remained dry in very stormy conditions. The low profile design does limit what can be placed in the unit, however, it was perfect for a two person road trip using soft duffle bags and hiking gear.
Perfect low-profile roof box for 2023 Tesla Y
The Inno Wedge 660 was the ideal low profile roof box that would allow me to fit into 6'6" parking garages without the need to remove the box. The roof box met my needs for additional cargo space for weekend trips with extra camping/outdoor gear/duffle bags and also for day-to-day needs such as groceries/miscellaneous items. With this low profile requirement, I accepted the trade-off that this box would not fit any items taller than 9" (i.e. carry on luggage, etc). Aesthetically, the box lines up very well with the shape of the Tesla Y. I also chose the white colour roof box to match the colour of the car. The box is quite unique as I have only seen one other Inno Wedge in my city. As for impact to range, the box has only slightly decreased the range of my EV. Overall, I am extremely happy with the purchase and would recommend it other Tesla drivers. A comparable low profile box was the Thule Vector Alpine, but is 3x the price of the Inno Wedge 660.
Decent box, but not without compromises
The main reason I picked this box is because it is low profile. I just got back from a camping trip, and the box was big enough to hold folding chairs, sleeping bags and pads, and pretty much all soft and flexible items. I have not noticed an increase in gas mileage, but this thing definitely creates extra noise. One thing I did not realize is how flexible the box is. While driving, especially at highway speed, I was able to see the front of the box vibrating significantly. I'm not sure if it is a feature of this particular box or if all of them do that; it's just something I did not expect.
Damaged upon receipt
The box is just what I wanted. 5 stars for INNO. I ordered it online and when I picked it up it was all scuffed up (the scratches really stand out on that glossy black surface) and one of the keys was bent beyond repair. Not sure what REI did with this thing but I'm disappointed that they sold a "new" product in this condition. This box should've been sold deeply discounted in their garage sale. 1 star for REI.
Sleek, functional, high quality cargo box!
I came upon Inno after cross referencing multiple sites and consistently finding rave reviews. Now I'm here to write one. - Because of its low profile, I was able to set it up by myself in about 30 minutes. - After numerous camping trips, it's more than spacious for its smaller profile and the quality is certainly there. - Noise is minimal as long as you aren't going high speeds in high wind. I've only had this issue about two or three times over the course of a recent 1,000 mile trip - Thing looks GOOD. Compare the appearance to Thule/Yakima. - Fair price considering competitors. You'll have a hard time finding one that's similar for what its going for. Unless you have LOADS of gear that simply won't fit, just buy this box. You won't regret it
Best low-profile box on market for price!
I have had a few of these over the years...probably the best looking box on the market unless you're going up to a 3000.00+ euro model. Can be lifted off the vehicle by one person, which is a huge plus compared to skiguard fiberglass models. Super sleep and works great - cannot beat this for a low-profile option...especially for the price.
Love this roof box!
I was siding with one of the two major companies that competes with Inno until I saw the Wedge 660 at my local REI. It was on clearance. I was attracted by the low profile as I read reviews of other products, stating increased gas consumption. I also liked the high quality of the hinges and locks. As compared to other companies, Inno offers a linner (it allows you to keep your box cleaner) for an extra fee. I was pleasantly surprised that the box did not increase the gas consumption of my Nissan Rogue Sport - I already went through two tanks of gas using it. I love this box and highly recommend it to any ski or camping enthusiast!
