Best running belt I've ever used
TommySalami
Bought this for short jogs to-and-from my parents house during covid lockdown (a few miles each way). Holds phone, ID, keys, sunglasses, and lightweight black diamond windbreaker. On cooler days I remove water bottle and use slot to store lightweight dynamo windpants. Doesn't squeak, minimal bouncing (better than my Osprey running backpacks). I've been a distance runner for over 20 years and this is one of my favorite pieces of gear.

I’ve worn the amphipod 20 during 7 months of running 3 days per weeks (approx. 800 miles). I like the fit, adjustable waist and 20oz. bottle. After about 4 months the corner seams in the pocket and along zipper began to fail. The corner seam expanded to a point that I could not put my car key in it. The zipper seam had a rip in it approx. 2inches. Also the waterproof membrane inside basically disintegrated. I carry my iPhone it most days and I’m certain that it has caused most of the wear issues. I can’t remember ever bringing in a defective product to REI in my forty years as a customer. Today I brought it in as damaged goods. After a brief examination, the clerk said that if I’ve used it as much as I revealed above that I could not return the merchandise. I casually mentioned that I understood but I questioned the quality of the product, the materials and the value. As consumers of products from the outdoor apparel industry, are we supposed to accept this standard? I believe it’s a disposable mentality from the manufacture. Use it for less than a year then throw it away. I’ve had similar products from Nathan, Ultimate Direction and Patagonia that lasted 5 or more years. I would not recommend this product for the $50 retail price.

No sloshing water!

Been looking to try out a belt for running. This one has been great so far on my daily 4-6 mile runs. The water doesn’t slosh around like you’d suspect. It’s light as well as tight around your hips. It stays in place well without coming loose. The pocket is deep enough for an iPhone and other small necessities while staying secure. The is a bungee cord, which I haven’t tested, looks well put together. The only thing I question is the bungee placement. It would hold a shirt/jacket vertically vice horizontally. I think it would hold but believe a horizontal hold would be better for piece of mind.

Great for short day hikes

I purchased this for short day hikes and it's just perfect. Fits well (super adjustable), stays put even while rock scrambling, and holds just what I need (car key, snack bar, cell phone). The water bottle is a good size and is easy to grab. I can't comment on this pack's suitability for running, but I used it on a 6 mile hike the day after I bought it and was very happy with it.

Rubberized strap is a very effective improvement

I was using this model before, but the bottle developed a leak at the cap, so I got it exchanged through REI (painless as always). Afterwards I noticed on the replacement that they had made a small design change. The belt now has some rubber beads on the strap. This now prevents the belt from ‘orbiting’ around my waist, which has always been a problem with the previous one (as well as other brands I had before). Now the belt stays in place during my runs. Very happy!

Terrible Design and Quality -- Terrible Product

This is the WORST running-related product I ever have purchased. Within the first mile of the first use, the bottle began leaking. I removed the bottle, twice, and re-screwed the top and re-depressed the top. No luck. It leaked. At the same time, the bottle began working itself out of the pouch. I am not a "bouncy" runner, but even the natural motion of a rather slow long run caused it to fall out repeatedly. I readjusted the strap and location on my waist--first on my hip, forward and back; then on my back; then on my front--but it made no difference. Without keeping a hand on it, it came out. Do not waste your money on this product. It is junk.

Good idea - squeaking drove me crazy

Love the bottle shape and top. No leaks during 18 trail miles. Very awkward to get stuff out of the zippered pouch, especially when something is secured in the bungee on the front. The belt is very secure and had no bounce when running up and down Grand Ridge trails. Worst thing though is the belt squeaks with every step. So annoying. Drove me crazy.

Bounces Way Too Much!

I just bought this pack at the REI store, and I am very disappointed with it. I chose it because the tag said it had "Bounce-Free Performance." I am training for a half-marathon and was hoping this would work for me this summer. I stopped and readjusted the straps many times, tried it both high on my waist and lower on my hips. I was finally able to run with the pack in the front instead, but the large buckle was very uncomfortable on my back. Bummed!

Great for hiking and walking

This waistpack is just the right size for my iPhone 6 plus, identification, and a nutrition bar. The elastic straps are great for securing my gloves once I warm up. The 20 oz bottle is just the right size and is easy to clean. Very functional design.

Bounced on my butt or squeezed my stomach

Probably fine for hiking or walking, but not good for running. When I wore it on my hips the water bottle bounced furiously up and down on my butt. When I wore it higher it didn't bounce, but it squeezed my stomach and made me so nauseous I couldn't run. I'd be curious if this is better for people who don't have curves. I'm 5'4, 122 pounds, so not terribly curvy but more curves than a very thin man.
