Great for Top Rope Solo
I bring this device every time I climb. I own two of them. I mainly use them to TRS (Top Rope Solo), but I have TR (Top Rope) belayed with them, and used them to jhumar. Great device!

Epic. Tiny. Works well, great design, simple to use, both sides rocker open with sprung closure. Highly recommend for solo climbing and anywhere you need a rope grab or another option to a prusik. Great addition to anyone with a rope. Safe. Simple. Worth having one.

The Ropeman 2 Ascender is a reliable piece of gear for ascending. I use mine for toprope solo climbing and as a self rescue device and I have taken a fall using only one with no problem. Out of good practice and safety, I always use two in the event there is a failure of one. I have found that the Camp Oval Screwgate Carabiner works best for the application that I use mine for, it keeps the ascender in proper orientation.
Perfect as an emergency ascender
The ropeman 2 has become my emergency ascender. It is light and dependable. I take it with me during mountaineering and canyoneering adventures. Actually any time I take a rope, I take it with me. Paired with a large carabiner like the Trango Regulock HMS, it can almost be use as a jumar in emergencies and short accents. However for long mountaineering ascents it does not replace a jumar ascender but it does work fantastic as an emergency self rescue.
Works for Top Rope Solo
I use this as a backup for top rope solo. I like the Roll n Lock better because it's smoother, but the Ropeman 2 works fine. I did notice one time when it did a little bit of damage to my rope, but that may have been a fluke thing.
Perfect emergency ascender
Lightweight, this stays on my harness. Simple to use, but requires plenty of practice before using in emergency situations.
Works as Advertised
Works as expected - very easy to use and while I use it as a back up for another Ascender - using them for top rope soling, I'm going to grab another and keep the system consistent. As I said - it works really well and is very easy to set up. Thanks for a great product!
Little but powerful
This little guy is awesome. Multiple uses. Great for small ropes. Ultralight and bright color is easy to find. Make sure you practice with this before using it in the field.
