Life Changing!
Wow! These things are AWESOME! I can’t believe how such a simple concept completely changed the way I pack for trips! Very well made, light as a feather, and keeps EVERYTHING organized. I bought a second set a couple of weeks later just...because! I’ll never travel again without these packing cubes. Highly recommended!
Useful and well-made but not perfect
These lightweight packing cubes are excellent to organize clothes well. I purchased 2 sets, and I use the various sizes according to the type of clothes I need to pack. The packing cubes are well-made and reasonably water resistant to withstand a very light sprinkling, but they are nowhere near waterproof. The mesh identification area is designed awkwardly, but it is better than nothing. Also, the expandable feature is excellent, though it would have been even better if the expanding portion were made from a more stretchy material such as spandex/lycra to allow for a more fitted compression and reduce bulk. For the price, though, these packing cubes are a great buy.
Makes packing easy
I have been using the old Co-op packing cubes for every trip I take. My suitcase is always tidy, and when looking for an item, it's easy to find. My son got drafted and he took all my packing cubes. Now, his duffel bag is tidy (as it should for a soldier!) and it saves him time, precious time. I have ordered these new Co-op packing cubes, and the only thing that prevented me from giving it a 5 star is the missing mesh that they had as the top. With it, you could easily see what you had packed inside. Now we have a small "window" mesh that is darker in shade, therefore not easy to view... and they added a place to write what you packed inside. For me, it is a hassle, I will not use the note.
Love these packing cubes! A real back saver
I've used these several times for longer trips when I needed to travel light AND take clothing suitable for a wide range of temps. Not only do they help organize my clothing - e.g. shirts here, pants here, socks here - but I can also squish them down into a smaller size. This is really handy when I'm traveling with a soft-side duffle bag, less so in a hard side suitcase since you end up with odd shaped, hard (compressed) cubes. But worthwhile nonetheless. I've traveled for 3 weeks in Africa with just 40 pounds total and these cubes made it possible!
I love these cubes
This purchase was actually a gift because I like these so much. you can organize your articles of clothing and then you can compress the items by zippering the expanding section and then.... you can stuff more of your necessary items in your bag or......you can just put more stuff. Hah! Well made and I like the different sizes and the different colors make them easy to distinguish. You can designate one for clean, one for dirty...One for underwear, one for shirts, another for pants....makes it easy to find stuff. Buy them if you don't want to waste your time on vacation looking for that sock...it will be in the small limey green cube - go out and have fun!!!
Trucker organization
Small for socks, medium for underwear, large for shirts in the tractor trailer.
Quality Cubes
I’ve had these and the Eagle Creek set for over a year now, and lived out of them continuously during my travel around Africa, the Middle East and South Pacific. They were perfect for organizing clothes in both my large rolling duffel as well as my Osprey hiking pack. The REI cubes are of better construction in both the material and the zippers. The Eagle Creek do compress to a thinner size, but the zippers occasionally snag and the material feels as if it could tear. I’ll be buying more of the REI cubes for the wife and our
Don't know how I lived without them
These packing cubes have been such a lifesaver for someone as disorganized as me. I cannot believe how much a simple zippered pouch could improve my packing and traveling experience. Not only have they saved me from my underwear spilling out all over the TSA counter but I can pack more by knowing exactly what I have within contained cubes. If you are on the fence, don't miss out on these. I jam pack them for every trip and I cannot believe the zippers have held up, but alas, here we are, with the zippers still going strong. Get the cubes.
Expansion feature works great as Compression
These things are awesome. I'm using them to pack for a deployment where laundry will be scarce, so I have to bring a lot of underwear. I can unzip the bag and stuff it to the brim with rolled tshirts, close the lid, and zip it further closed while compressing it. These will compress by about 20% which makes a big difference when volume matters more than weight.
Expandable doesn't mean compressible
Many thoughtlessly assume that expandable packing cubes are compressible: The expansion zippers are light weight, and are easily discerned to not be strong enough for compressing the packing cubes. I see many comments where people have erroneously assumed that the zippers are designed for compressing the overstuffed cubes, and then downrate the set for the zippers breaking. I have several sets, and using them for their intended purpose, they work very well.
