Great overall
Added these to my hammock camping set-up for a kayak camping trip in the Everglades. These kept out all the marsh mosquitoes, and I expect to use it on an upcoming trip in an area known to have many no-see-um's. The zipper is easy to get in and out of, and storing away the net when it's not in use is easy as long as your gear sling is empty. However, setting this up takes a little getting used to: if you're using a sling for your gear, you'll want to adjust the lengths a few times times before allowing everything to be suspended. Once you do it once, you'll find what order works best for your hammock attachment system.
It's worth it!
Bug nets? Few years ago i would have laughed.. Who needs it? Well something has changed. the bugs are angrier and more resilient it seems. Dragonfly isn't just a clever code name for a G.I. Joe, its a useful bit of kit! Keeps them out better than most and keeps the net of you! Yeah you wouldn't think thats a thing, but it is! That handy ridgeline is good to hang a lamp on. You can actually see the big ones trying to get in, it's entertaining. It does accommodate an under-quilt well, however you might have to adjust your hang a tad. Just remember to line up your Dragonfly zipper so it's easy to find, so did that once. ;)
Just what I needed for relaxing in my hammock.
I have an ENO double hammock mounted on a generic stand on my deck. I live on a river in the Ozarks and bugs can be a detriment to relaxing in my hammock. After reading reviews and looking at the specs of several netting options, I decided on this one. I’m very pleased with the ease of use, comfort and effectiveness of of my choice. It’s super easy to set up and the horizontal zipper makes entry and exit easy as well.
Works great
I've only used it once in a tick and bug infested outing at Hoosier National Forest. Easy setup, lightweight and high quality.
Exceptional
I really have to sing the praises of this item. The mesh is so fine that absolutely nothing will wiggle through while you rest. Myself and two other hammock campers used Dragonflies on a trip in Cascade, Idaho. No one got a single bite. Another aspect that I really applaud is the two-tone color that allows you to see the stars as if there was nothing above you. It honestly took my breath away the first night. Really magical. Great idea with that one. These are also very easy to get over your hammock and back off when breaking down camp. I was very pleased by that as we setup in the pitch black of night.
good investment
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The dragonfly is easy to apply over the hammock and the double zipper works great. It's plenty roomy for the single hammock and surely big enough for a double. As it is with the single hammock, I just sort of wish the zipper was lower so it wouldn't sag under the hammock so much, but really not a big deal and I suppose it needs to be designed that way to work with a double. Keeps the bugs out as intended. Hooray!
Another great Kammok product
I haven't had a chance to use the Dragonfly out in the wild yet, but I did set it up in the back yard to get a feel for it. It looks and feels like it'll work like a charm. One suggestion though: while using the Python straps will allow you to hang your hammock between trees that are a considerable distance apart, the suspension line that comes with the Dragonfly is not quite so forgiving. So if your suspension points are pretty big around or fairly far apart, make sure you have some extra line handy for your mosquito net. Otherwise, another great product from Kammok. I'm quickly becoming a big fan.
Thanks Bruce! You can also tie that suspension line to one of the higher attachment points on the python straps
Dragonfly insect net
Ordered the dragonfly to cut down on weight and space when motorcycle camping. It worked perfectly! First time setting it up took some adjusting but once I figured out a good process it was simple and quick. Kept all bugs out and allowed easy access. Loved pairing it with my roo double and Kuhli shelter for a week on the road!
Extremely Effective in Harsh Mosquito Conditions.
I have owned my dragonfly for 2 years. I have used it extensively in harsh bug conditions in both northern Minnesota and SW Florida. It has worked exceptionally to provide shelter from the blood sucking hordes, and provide me with a great night's sleep. In Minnesota, I spent a total of about 2 weeks sleeping in my Roo Single and Dragonfly under a tarp. They set up quickly and easily with the Python straps. Most nights the sound of the mosquitoes humming reminded me of living near an airport -- and yet, the dragonfly came through. Other than a handful of the buggers who came in with me through the zipper, the dragonfly kept the vast majority of them outside and hungry. Once in, I took a few minutes to exterminate the ones who came in with me, and was then able to rest comfortably through the night. I spent a little over a month using it in SW Florida this spring. Less bugs, but similar exceptional results. It also kept the no-see-ums out in addition to the mosquitos.
Thank you for sharing your experience using the Dragonfly! We're thrilled to hear the bug net kept the pests away, allowing you to get a comfortable sleep outdoors. Enjoy the adventures ahead!
Perfect hammock bug net.
Absolutely perfect hammock bug net. Light product, easy to set up with my ENOS double nest hammock. I was worried it would be hard to get in and out of, easy to snag or tear, but this is the perfect design. I used on a backpacking trip instead of a tent.
