Great choice for hiking
I was in REI window shopping for my upcoming REI trip to Escalante and I ran into the store manager. I've been having trouble with the sensitive skin on my palms when I used trekking poles and was using fingerless gloves or my biking gloves. I didn't need the padding. Mike suggested boaters gloves and helped me find the right fit. Well I just got back And they were just the right thing, not just for my trekking poles but also for the scrambling on slick rock and in a slot canyons we were doing. They also have sun block. After a couple days I noticed that 4 of the people in my group were also wearing gloves they'd picked up at a local outfitter (no REI nearby). My gloves got a workout and will be a basic in my hiking gear from now on.
Thumb seam badly placed
I bought these for physical barrier UV protection while kayaking and rafting. The problem is that the seam on the thumb and between the thumb and first finger is right in the area where you grip a paddle. The seam is not smooth, and after an hour of paddling my hands were really tender. They weren’t sunburned, but I could hardly stand to grip the paddle any more. This problem could be avoided by putting that seam in a non-contact area. I’ll need to find something else to use :-(
Well Made
I use them for kayaking. They work well to make a long paddle better.
Great Gloves
My son and I, each took a pair on a week long canoeing trip (BSA Northern Tier, Atikokan). Both pairs of gloves where worn for 10-12 miles of paddling a day. Both pairs of gloves still look new. Provided great UV protection.
Quality issue
Seams fell apart on the right glove after 3 uses, returning product.
Whoa — great SPF BIkING gloves!!!
Can’t believe none of the biking gloves have SPF ratings, so when I found these sturdy and well-priced gloves in the paddling section, I was thrilled. I bought the large men’s size so I can close the little hole where it fastens and keep the sun off that usually exposed spot.
Ok
Attractive gloves but the padding is a lot less than I thought less than desire.
Saved my hands
Saved my hands on a week long kayak trip through the puget sound. Loved them. Keeps for years. Over 150 miles of paddling and showing little signs of wear.
Boaters gloves
Good protection from sun and leather palms provide excellent grip
