Comfortable but not the easiest to use
The pillow is very comfortable and lightweight and definitely improved my recent backpacking trip by helping me sleep better! I took off one star because I find the air plug very difficult to open and shut. Sometimes I had to re-inflate the pillow two or three times before I could successfully get the plug closed, which is frustrating when you're tired after a long day of hiking. But it held air very well and I like how soft it is.
better night sleep with this
I have been using my sleeping bag stuff sack filled with extra clothes as a pillow for years and this pillow helped me sleep for the first time. It was easy to inflate and stayed inflated. The inflate/deflate valve makes it easy to keep the air in between breaths. Great product for camping or long flights.
Yo this pillow rocks, why the hating?
I've taken this pillow camping, used it on the floor in an airBnB, and it provided a comfortable sleep over a weekend camping at a metal festival. I'm a 1-pillow sleeper at home with a relatively thin pillow and this one does great. If you want low-weight, you're not going to have a giant pillow. Valve worked fine, I haven't had any trouble with leaks or the valve opening up. I bought mine at REI, hunting online now for a good deal to get a second for my girlfriend. It's a great pillow. A little pricey, but the features and comfort have me willing to spend the money when I can find a discount.
Lightweight really cool pillow, needs more loft!
When I received the pillow, I was immediately impressed by the quality. It better be, it retails for around $40! When I tried it, it didn’t have enough loft for me. I’m a side sleeper, and I almost immediately reverted back to my clothes stuff sack. If your a back or stomach sleeper this may work really well. It packs really light, and is fairly soft and more like a pillow at home because of the quilt cover. The valve also opened twice on me while I was trying it, all you have to do is pull your hand across it while sleeping it and it deflated. I really wanted to like this impressive and small pillow, unfortunately until I find something better than my clothes bag I’ll stick with it!
great pillow
This was a great hiking pillow. I used it while hiking Mt. Kilimanjaro. It was easy to blow up (just a few breaths). It stayed inflated the entire night. I love that the stuff sack is built in ... so there is no losing it while trying to get packed up quickly every morning. I would highly recommend this pillow.
Not quite thick enough
I returned this the next day because it only fills up to about 3 inches thick. I'm keeping my EXPED REM pillow with little latex chunks in it. AWESOME. Advertised as 5.4 ounces but is actually 4.5.
Perfect ultralight camp pillow
Perfect ultralight camp pillow with 2 caveats: 1) weighs a few grams more than some of the competitors BUT the soft cover on this one more than makes up for few grams you save by sleeping on a mini pool raft which is what my previous pillow felt like. This feels like an actual pillow. 2) if you are both broad shouldered and a side sleeper, this pillow may feel a bit shallow for you. I am both of these, and it works just fine for me, but I can see concerns if someone was used to thick pillows at home. Fits my kids great as well.
Push-close valve pops open easily
The pillow is lightweight and comfortable but, unfortunately, the push-close valve design pops open after only a few minutes of resting my head on it. I've tried refilling and closing the valve with extra force but it just does not stay closed for more than twenty minutes or so, releasing with a startling pop and woosh. I'm not sure how this made it past quality assurance but the design is utterly useless.
Wonderful
Despite some reviews indicating the valve was a problem, it absolutely was not. In fact, it's probably the most advanced vale I've seen on a blow-up. The fact that you can seal it without losing any air while trying to shove a stopped in place is a huge advance; you just push it in and twist, no blow-back. Wonderful.
Great size, feature and simplicity combo
I bought this pillow right before a three day backpacking trip on the AT. Weight and packed size was a paramount concern so the fact this thing packs up so small and weighs almost nothing was perfect. It worked well as my hammock pillow and it was really easy to blow up and deflate, making it the perfect choice for making and breaking camp quickly. I had a small problem with the valve popping open against the side of my hammock but a couple of adjustments did the trick and I definitely recommend this one.
