excellent when used correctly
like the previous review said, this is a very small bowl. We have 2 Doberman Pinchers that backpack and hike with us all the time. They have full size collapsible bowls for extended outings. However, a quick trail run or day hike- this bowl is hard to beat. Balls up perfectly in a pocket or backpack waist pocket and is quick to deploy. There is a need to refill a couple times depending on the size and thirst of your dog, but for me, squiring some water out of my camelbak into this is way easier than digging in mine or my dog's pack to pull out a water bottle and silicone bowl on the go.

Ridiculously small opening for medium/large dogs
Let me start by saying you would be better off bringing a plastic shopping bag for your dog to drink from. Repurpose a bag with the same weight and packability. I can't attest to it's durability because I haven't been able to use it that much. Note that I am saying I have had the chance to use it many times but have chosen not to use it. Yes, it's compact and ultralight. That's the end of it's usefulness. Period. The fabric is so thin, I wouldn't think it would last up to the years and years of use and abuse that I got from the REI dog bowls. The fabric is so thin that you have to stoop over to support the bow while your dog drinks. The bowl itself is too small for a medium or large dog to gulp down lots of water at a time. Also, the opening is so small that my dogs flatten the bow to get any water out, spilling the water everywhere. Totally useless! I have German Shorthaired Pointers. If you bring your Chihuahua or Lhasa Apso on a short hike with you, then this bowl might work.

Lightweight and easy to pack

Me and my dogs love this bowl. Packs up so small light! And it's actually possible to get the bowl back into the pocket. I use it for water on trail runs and brewery outings. We also bring it backpacking for food and water. It is so much lighter than the collapsible silicone bowls. Like all Ruffwear products it has been durable. It has held up for almost three years and still going strong. The top does sort of collapse in on itself but my large dog has no problem using it.

Solid construction, difficult to restore to pouch

I like this bowl in theory, and it is well constructed and lightweight. But if you have arthritis in your hands it will be VERY difficult, if not impossible,to push it back into the small pouch. I was able to push about 80% of the bowl back into the small storage area, then had to secure it with a rubber band. The current pouch is about 2.25" wide by 2" tall. I understand the desire and need to have a very small "footprint", but I'm not sure making the pouch 1/2" wider and/or 3/16" taller would compromise the intent. However, increasing the size of the pouch a bit would make it a lot easier to pack up the pouch when you don't need it.

So convenient

Super compact and easy to carry. I hook it to my dogs leash and is always there when I need it.

Very Packable and Compact

I was a little surprised when I got this bowl. I am however going to give it a try. It was smaller than I expected overall. It does roll into itself and pack very small into your pocket. That being said it is also a bit flimsy. I probably should have looked at the specifications a bit more. The opening also is almost the size of my 35 lbs. dogs' nose...this would not be a good option for larger dogs. We are going to use this weekend and just got so I will update the review and let you know how my dog takes to it.

Very convenient, makes water breaks easier

I use this on hikes with my two 30-40 lb dogs. It does usually need to be refilled once or twice per stop, but it stands up nicely and works well. It folds up very small and can easily be stored in the outside of my hiking pack for easy access. Definitely recommend.

Small

Much smaller than expected. The top of the bowl is smaller than the bottom. Maybe good for a small dog but definitely not for a medium or large

Interior lining disintegrates

Interior white waterproof lining disintegrates after just a few uses. Little white specs get into the water and the environment. No bueno. Bought this to take on runs with the pup because packability. Disappointed with the quality.

Big enough for a chihuahua!

This thing is teeny weeny. My dog is 40 pounds, and this just won't cut it for him. But it looks like a good quality product and very tiny. For a very small dog, would work great.
