Great, comfortable, biking shoe
I tried on several different pairs of shoes that day. I ride a road bike, so I tried on road bike shoes and they all hurt my feet. I tried on some other Mtn bike shoes and none of them came close to the comfort and support of these. I also like the ease of putting them on with the Velcro straps and the one Ratchet strap. I highly recommend them.
MTB XC and gravel riding
Shoes are at the end of their useful life. I was surprised that I had bought them in May of '19 and logged 860 hours of riding with them. Really happy my feet were uninjured on occasions where the shoe made contact with a hidden log, stump or rock.
Excellent Pedal Arch & Foot Support
I was having foot problems due to pressure on the pedals. I was using the wrong type of shoe for my recreational biking purposes. Upon recommendation I went to this shoe -even though I am not a "mountain biker"- and the added support has alleviated the problem.
Good winter shoe
I bought these instead of actual winter shoes or boots. They have pretty minimal ventilation, so my feet stay plenty warm with good socks. I haven’t gone too far below freezing with them yet, but I’m not worried about it. In the 30s (F), my feet haven’t gotten cold at all. The build quality seems good so far. The Vibram soles are nice and seem like they will be durable. They are not super flashy in terms of look, but that’s ok with me. I’ve never been a neon green shoes person. If I had to find something to complain about, it would probably be the weight of them, but that isn’t a huge concern to me. I’m not even sure that they are actually heavier than my old shoes. I will be surprised if they don’t feel hot in the warmer months.
Great cycling shoes
Great shoes for both road bikes and mountain bikes that are SPD compatible. Very easy to walk around in. Sometimes you can hear the cleats clicking on the floor, but its not a huge deal. As always, these are shoes, so they should be tried on in store to make sure the fit is just right.
Comfortable, click in easy
If you have long skinny feet like me the only concern I have is that I may run out of enough "clicks" on the top band once it breaks in. We will see. So far they are really comfortable and responsive.
Nice Shoes
Very nice shoes. Fit is spot on. Great soles for light mountain biking and multi-day touring. Crank Brothers cleats fit nicely and don't give me away (nor wear away) walking on tile or concrete floors. Ratchet feature for final adjustment is very nice. Only improvement would be to add a very small amount of color. The black color scheme is unusually devoid of any personality.
Great Choice for my First Biking Shoes
These shoes are comfortable and fit well for my wide (4E) feet. They are easy to walk in for short distances even though the soles are very stiff (as the should be).
Great for my wide feet!
Very pleased with shoe and fit - I typically wear a wide shoe, and struggle to find that cycling shoes that are wide enough. These have lots of room in the toebox.
Great flat to clipless transition shoe
I was looking for a shoe that would be stiff, and with which I could eventually use clipless pedals, but could at first use with Wellgo flat pedals (the kind with pins). I first tried the Bon Trager Evoke - .even after going up a size they were not wide enough to accommodate my bunions and slipped off the flat pedals repeatedly causing me to bash up my feet. After 15 miles I couldn't wait to get them off. I had tried on a very well-used pair of these Pearl Izumi X-Alp Summit shoes, and found that they were wide enough though they had lost their stiffness. Then ordered a new pair - still went up a size to a 44 to make sure that I would have enough width. It seems that the buckle system has been improved a lot from the older version that I tried - very easy to tighten and to release. The two velcro straps at the toe and forefoot can be adjusted and then left in place, making it easy and fast to get these shoes on and off. Getting the shoe placed on flat pedals was effortless (maybe 95% as easy as riding in plain sneakers) - the Vibram sole has a good amount of area, the tread nubs are relatively shallow, and there are cleat covers that also have grip. And the stiffness is wonderful - kind of like having a super-power. I don't think I would hike miles in these, but they seem fine for going into the grocery store or other short errands - no clacking on the floor. Look forward to many miles in these shoes, and to eventually trying them with combo clipless/flat pedals (The Shimano XT PD-T8000). Only gripe is that I wish they came in some nice loud colors.
