Loved the Tips!
Have never used walking sticks before and bought these as an afterthought. We hiked Angels Landing, then to Delicate Arch in Arches NP and then hiked Canyonlands to Mesa Arch. These ends really kept me from slipping and I would never hike those places without them. They were fantastic!!
Fits normal Black Diamond poles
I compared these Z-Pole Tip Protectors to the Tip Protectors for "non Z-Pole" trekking poles in store. These fit just as well on my Black Diamond poles, one of which has a Leki tip. For you gram weanies, this one weighs 8 gm, the other, 11 gms. These cost less. I put one of each on my poles and took a 5.5 mile walk on asphalt and grass. I discerned no difference in the protectors' performance. I recommend adding one or two washers before inserting your pole tips to keep them from punching through when they begins wearing to that threshold. Choose one and be happy.
Ideal for protecting packed gear from pole tips
I've had several of these because I tend to lose one or both if I stow them in a frequently-accessed pack pocket. The rubber material is soft, pliable and lighter weight than the reinforced rubber pole tips I have for my snowshoe poles. After wearing through some of these while navigating scree and sandstone or walking along long roads to trailheads, I've decided that these tip protectors are best suited for protecting my stored gear and luggage from tears and punctures from the carbide tips. If I was looking for long-wear tip protectors to use for reducing damage to sensitive terrain, I would choose a different design with more rubber reinforcement material along the contact area.
They just don't stay on !
Was hoping to use these tips, over the metal hiking tips, for use on wood floors, sidewalks, and urban paths on my Black Diamond Distance Z poles as I recover from knee surgery. But, they just don't stay attached. Really disappointed as these were the recommended tips for my poles.
Pole tips, Black Diamond
I have used my walking sticks for about a year. The last 6 months being at least 2 miles daily with a couple half marathons in there. The tips I purchased with the sticks (same tips). The only reason I needed a new set is because on a walk recently one of the poles placed directly in a hole on a manhole cover. The next time it hit the ground I could tell there was no longer a tip. Since this was in the middle of the road, I didn’t want to risk retrieving the tip. I check the tips regularly and honestly wish tires on my car would look as new after many miles.
Bionic hip!
I had a full hip replacement a couple weeks ago & knew after using a walker that I would graduate to my hiking poles sooner rather than later (didn't want a cane, you stand up straighter with poles) & I had lost the rubber tip to one of them. So, very happy now that I can use the poles with the new rubber tip on the end & begin working towards hiking again.
Perfect fit for Black Diamond FLZ Poles
I bought these for an upcoming Camino de Santiago through hike. Unlike most of my domestic (USA) hikes, the Camino has a mix of hard surfaces (concrete, pavement, and cobblestone). I find it very annoying when I wake up to click, click, click of pilgrims going past my albergue windows in the early morning over cobblestone streets. I also wonder whether these hard surfaces are hard on the pole tips. While I usually reserve pole use for more rugged conditions than cobblestone streets, I want to bring along some rubber tips just in case I do. These rubber tips fit my Black Diamond FLZ Trekking Poles perfectly. They are snug enough that I don't fear them coming loose yet easy to apply and remove when not needed.
Useful indoors
I bought a set of Black Diamond trekking poles a year ago because I was dealing with back problems that made walking difficult. I don’t want to use a cane because they make me look “old.” The poles fold into luggage and a tote bag so I can use them as needed while traveling. I need the tips for walking indoors. They work well. Back surgery is coming up, and I hope to be back on the trails by year’s end. I’ll still need the great poles. BTW, I live in Missoula, Montana, and many of use trekking poles rather than a cane because we refuse to give up.
Tough protectors
Held up well on all the rocks and cobble stones on the Portuguesae Camino de Santiago.
Makes hiking quieter
I used these tips with the Black Diamond Women's Distance FLZ Trekking Poles - Pair Evergreen 105-125 Cm and they were perfect. Kept the hiking quieter as compared to those around me without tips on their poles
