Meets expectations
A basic sleeping bag for children. Best for car camping and other front country applications - it is not designed or intended for extreme backcountry use. If that's your jam you should look for something expressly designed for that. I appreciate the integrated stuff sack because obviously children are prone to losing anything that's not sewn on. That said, the size adjustment feature advertised does not work well for me. My child is a tosser and turner and usually the size adjustment is lost not too long after bedtime. However, that's not an issue for our application. It's more important to me that this bag is more appropriately sized for young children in general - I don't have to worry about him slipping down inside and waking up confused or panicked. In my opinion the REI house brand is the gold standard for light duty equipment like this - it may be more expensive than what you'd find in a big box store but it's much more thoughtfully designed, eco friendly, and durable. Well worth the added expense in my opinion. Just keep in mind the intended application and you can't do better.
Better for Car Camping, Not Backpacking
I bought this for my daughter to go backpacking. It does not squish and pack down small like adult sleeping bags. It’s extremely bulky, so much that it would take up an entire child’s backpack, so we’ve never brought it backpacking. All that space in our packs is precious, and this is just so impractical for backpacking because of its bulkiness alone. The material is nice and patterns are super cute. It’s great for car camping. I’m giving it 3 stars because it’s marketed as a backpacking product.
Good bag - bad zipper.
The bag is plenty warm and cozy, but the zipper is a giant pain and hard for kids to zip up on their own. I would call this a fatal flaw and advise against purchasing.
not just for kids!
I am 4’11” and 80lbs and this was perfect. I have room for my cat too lol! I have yet to test this out in the backcountry but I’ll be sure to update my review when I do. A wonderful REI worker helped me out today, I wish I could remember her name… if you’re reading this you know who you are! Bless you i appreciate you so much 🙌🙏 -Northridge REI P.S. for all the UL/LW backpackers, this is only 3lbs and 3oz!!! Get a liner and you’ll be set for all conditions 👌
Car camping must
We received this bag as a gift for my son’s 2 birthday and finally used it on our first camping trip of the season. It got down to 40 degrees (F) and all he had on was merino wool long underwear and a onesie. He was warm all night long and even wanted to hang out in the sleeping bag when we woke up. Great for car camping. I love how the stuck sack doubles as a way to make the bag shorter. One lower star as it claims it is good for backpacking but seems too big for extended trips.
Spacious and warm
I bought this for my 4 year old son and we’ve used it down to 40 degrees he slept comfortably in his boxers inside it so warmth will not be a problem.
Great in the hiker shelters
Great product at a good price. I never have to worry with this bag.
