Yakima FatCat 4 EVO Ski/Snowboard Rack
Just because your skis are fat, doesn't mean your mounts need to be. The Yakima FatCat 4 EVO ski/snowboard rack accommodates up to 2 snowboards or 4 pairs of powder skis in a sleek package.

- Wide enough to carry 2 snowboards or 4 pairs of skis that are up to 136mm in the tips

Good ski rack
Good ski rack overall. The clamp system is a bit bulky, I bought the t-slot kit and it looks so much better and was also easier to install. Also, I wish the rubber would have been a bit softer, I have to exercise a bit of pressure to close the rack.
Nailed it!!
I have been using ski racks for over 30 years and these are the best engineered racks I have ever seen. Five minute install or removal. Much less noise and more aerodynamic. After reading the previous reviews I almost didn't purchase but am I glad I did. When they are full of ski they are not designed to go all the way to the bottom clip, that's why they have different setting levels. Best engineered ski racks to date... Highly reccomend..
Poor design, avoid
I’ve had good success with other Yakima products, and really like their matching key system. This ski rack is super disappointing for a number of reasons. Other reviews talk about needing to follow directions for fitting. The directions are fine, the design isn’t. Having a super small metal wheel to tighten the strap is bad enough when you’ve warm, dry fingers, but forget it when you’ve wet gloves. Worse, there’s no locking mechanism. See one of these on a car? Four easy clips and the skis and rack are yours. Come on Yakima, you’ve got the key system, make it useful.
Great ski/snowboard racks
I decided not to fork out the money for a season locker this year. Prices have gone way up so I decided to buy racks. These are really nice and can’t hear them on the roof at all. Three of us went skiing today and easily fit ours skis on.
Racks for two.
Purchased these racks on appearance and aerodynamic profile. They were easy to attach if you follow the directions supplied. After installation, I found they had a triple securing locking mechanism, once your skies or boards were laid upon the racks, you could close the top bar and have three different and each more secure closing settings to enable you to lock the racks once your gear was in place, very clever.
Definitely recommended
I have only had a few opportunities to use them but they are great, so far. Easy to install and getting the skis in/out is very simple. The skis are all secure while driving.
Quiet and useful
These ski racks are great. I am a snowboarder and these thing work perfectly for groups of people trying to save some money on gas. Keeps the vehicle spacious and dry
Hard to close and lock with skis in
Easy installation, sleek, but when the skis are in it's hard to close and on last tooth of the plastic and locks won't turn under pressure unless I have a 2nd person pull down on the rack. Having the skiis in a single line instead of doubled up helps the issue a bit, if Yakima engineers designed the hindge to hinge up a bit it would relieve pressure. Only used these 5 times this season and not sure they are worth keep for next, great concept but bad functionality.
Great when it's not cold
Just purchased this rack a few weeks ago and used it in a big storm cycle in the Mountain West. Overall it works great with one caveat - DO NOT lock it when it's freezing. It took ~30 minutes to get the key into the lock(s) on each piece. I've heard other issues with this, but overall works great otherwise.
Ski racked
Read the instructions watched a YouTube video but the nuance of installation isn’t there. Start by shortening the strap that goes around crossbar a lot via the adjustment knob as the crux
