It works well, bought one for each family member!
I'll start by saying that I initially bought one of these helmets for myself for the primary purpose of canyoneering. Then, as my wife and kids got into canyoneering with me, we stopped borrowing helmets from a friend and I ordered one for each of my kids and one for my wife. I have a few scratches on the top of my helmet where it saved my head from getting some decent bonks and scratches, but I've never fallen or tested the helmet in an extreme way like that. So far it has done its job and I am very satisfied with this helmet--enough to trust it to protect my wife and kids.
Good product, unexpected color
I bought the M/L Blue based on the review that it wasn’t the color in the picture. The picture in the review showed a lighter, more “sky blue like it would be some chick named Misty’s eye shadow color. Totally girlish.” I thought it looked pretty good, better than the blueish grey in the product photo. When it arrived it was not the eye shadow of misty I was expecting and hoping for it. It wasn’t even the grey of the product picture. It was a much darker blue. Which still looks fine. And it keeps my brain intact when I fall so there’s that. It fits well, in comfy, easy to adjust, the chinstrap isn’t itchy or bothersome to me, which is a common problem I have with helmets and hats of any sort. In terms of the product, 5/5, in terms of the color, it’s a wildcard. Maybe try the red
Not the color pictured.
I like the style of the helmet, it’s light and great for the money but I chose the BLUE COLOR thinking it’s the gray/blue or navy blue color like the photo shows but I get it in the mail and it’s literally sky blue like it would be some chick named Misty’s eye shadow color. Totally girlish. So I’m stuck with it for now. Here’s a photo of me in a cave with it..
Just purchased
I'm pleased, good overall construction and protection. I climb and rappel Solo, feel more confident and protected. Good general overall helmet.
Great fit
This is my second climbing helmet, my first was the bd half dome. I ended up replacing my first one because for the life of me, I could not get it to fit. The attachment system worked great, until I tilted my head head to look at the wall, then it would flip back and be too tight to fit snuggly again. This is frustrating when trying to climb. The Petzl on the other hand, has a unique attachment system that makes it more comfortable and stay right where it needs to be. I always have to adjust it when putting it on by loosening it then tightening it, but it’s a snug and secure fit that lasts all day. The helmet is also very light.
Better protection than previous helmets
If you do a lot of mountain and ice climbing where sharp rocks and icicles can pierce foam or thin plastic, it's important to have a helmet with a full-blown, thicker ABS shell. This helmet is perfect for that. It's very comfortable and the rear adjustment is a solid mechanism. It also has a full-surround foam layer that protects against side impacts (unlike my two previous helmets) . Highly recommended. Also less expensive than higher-end, less-protective helmets that only provide foam or thin ABS.
Good fit for female mountaineer
I was looking for a good helmet for Alpine mountaineering, so i tried on a bunch of helmets at REI and this one was the winner. Lighter than the half dome, but more coverage and I like the foam. The woman's version of the climbing helmets I tried didn't seem to fit right and they felt like they had less coverage.
Great helmet
I choose this helmet over the half dome because it has more vents and protects from side crashes too. Doesn’t get too hot and I had no problem wearing glasses and the helmet. Fit was good make sure to try it on before purchasing and it wasn’t noticeably heavy.
makes climbing even easier
This is a spectacular 10 oz. helmet that comes in wonderful colors. Features include an ABS SHELL, with EPS CROWN and EPP side/back foam liner. Although the chin strap can not be adjusted on the side loops (it's sewn, unlike the Sirocco) it fits great.
Solid, but Red is Pink
This is a tough helmet. I bought it for mountaineering, rock and ice climbing. Good all around helmet. It's comfy and won't dimple like some lighter helmets. The red helmet in the photo is deceiving. It is bright pink in person.
