Wanted to Love it....but Will Have to Part
For reference - I'm 5'4", 145 lbs, 34B, athletic build - broader shoulders, wider hips/thighs. When I saw this at the the store, I immediately felt the urge to try it on; it was so pretty! The pattern, the length, and overall look of the dress drew my attention. I usually am between a small/medium in Patagonia, and tried on a medium in the store. The medium was very loose and baggy on top, even with the straps adjusted to the tightest setting. I liked the fit on the bottom half and thought the drawstring was a nice touch; however, I ended up ordering a small online as one was not available in the store. The top on the small was not as baggy, but even with a strapless bra on underneath, the fabric did not seem to fit flatly on the chest as shown on the model. I still had to adjust the straps to the tightest setting - they are a bit too long. The bottom half of the dress was tighter across my thighs, and after standing up after sitting, there were those "accordion lines" on the dress. Wish the dress was more A-line than sheath for curvier ladies. I loved the pattern on the dress and the lightweight feel of the fabric, but will be returning the dress as it isn't as flattering on me as I would have hoped.
super cool, dress up or go casual
Got this dress in navy/rust after trying it on in store. I absolutely love it. Superb fabric. Has a very classy look but cool and light. Love the pockets. Going back to get another color. I'm usually a size 8 and the medium fits nicely.
Flattering
I usually wear a M or even sometimes a L in Patagonia if I want it oversized. I am a size 6-8, and got this in a small. I have a smaller chest and bigger/athletic thighs and I was able to make a small work, but if you are opposite this may be hard to size. Only 4 stars because it was hard to gauge my size.
great lightweight dress
I LOVE this dress, so comfortable and lightweight. I wore this dress for 3 days on backpack trip and it held up great. POCKETS!! large pockets are extremely useful, and length is perfect, below the knee. Lightweight so it dries quickly. Favorite dress for backpacking and wearing in town.
