Best socks I've ever owned. Little pricey, but worth it for the lifetime warranty. I have literally worn these socks 6 days in a row and they are not stinky?! Been wearing them in the summer 88* heat and they are very breathable. Also work great in the cold. Now I'm slowly adding more and more top quality high % merino wool socks to my wardrobe. These darn tough mountaineering socks feel much more dense and tougher than other wool otc socks. I just wish that these socks had the higher % merino wool that the darn tough men's hunting extra cushion otc socks have which is 79%... looks like the exact same sock same price but just different color.
If your even considering these for any form of long distance or all day work /movement i highly recommend, i use them for wildlannd firefighting, first obvious worry was them being to warm and what not but ive taken these from 20 degrees to 120 degrees and in pretty much every situation, I cant think of a time when i wished i was wearing a different sock even on day 5 of wearing these without washing enduring 16+ hr shifts hiking through the literal toughest of terrains. These are very solid sock and although expensive you will not regret buying them. Even if not scaling a mountain or hiking chainsaw all day, these socks are always comfortable and will be the first warm socks i grab to be comfortable in the off season. Buy em!
Bought these to wear while fishing. I needed some socks to wear under my waders to keep my feet warm. These do the trick. Nice fit I wear size 12 shoes so bought XL in the socks. Darn tough just make great socks, they are expensive but outlast other pairs many times over. I have yet to wear out a pair. I usually lose one in the wash before they wear out or my son takes them. Either way I don't have a problem re-buying them. Made in the USA. Can't wait to get up to lake Tahoe in this winter and slipping them on before a hike or maybe some fly fishing. Excellent product.
Day two of going up Mt. Shasta's Casaval ridge on March 31 started at 5:30 a.m. in about 20 degrees and in the dark at 9.7k feet. The temps were probably 15 or so and windy towards the top. On the way down I took a different route with the wind blocked and as it wamed up I post holed for hours. My feet ended up totally wet, strangely I think from just sweating and so much time on my feet (not from the gore tex boots leaking, or getting snow in them from the top). The day ended at 8:00 p.m. in the parking lot, and after 14.5 hours on my feet and about 4.5k ft up and 7.5k ft down and my feet had absolutely zero issues. How much more could I ask for? I have another pair of non sports darn tough wool socks for work and in 3 seasons of the year they are always my first choice.
I'm one of those shorts in winter guys, but wanted a good pair of warm socks that'd stay up well and be soft and fluffy... yes, in my sandals. Shorts, sandals, tall socks, I'm a real fashion violation.
I work maintenance at a school district and that means I go in for snow removal no matter what. If I’m not wearing them, they’re always at least in my bag for an extreme weather back up. These have saved my butt a couple times. They are super long, go up to my knee, super fluffy unlike my other full and light cushion darn toughs. I had to learn that these are also overkill in certain situations. These only come out when it’s really cold and wet.
I figured out if you don't want them to shrink just wash them but let them air dry. I live in Las Vegas and you would think with how thick these socks are they would make your feet super hot since it gets up to 115 degrees in the summer but the wool actually keeps them cool! Also I love how thick they are it's almost like adding extra cushion to my work boots. Being made in the USA is also a big big plus.
I purchased two pairs of these for hiking/rucking/ruck running. I needed thick socks that could keep my feet from sliding in my boots and creating blisters. They needed to be warm because hot feet are mildly uncomfortable, but cold feet are the worst. They also needed to keep my feet dry. These are thick and strong, warm, and they wick away sweat easily. They feel fresh long past any other sock. I've been going two days on these between washes. I turn them inside out and let them air out after the first day, then put the second pair to use. Then, the first ones go right back to work and the second pair sits out. They still feel fresher after a second day than a cotton sock after six hours. The height of them is also a plus; it keeps my shins warm and protects them from the elements, and they can be folded down if I prefer. I've never had a more comfortable and functional sock. I can't stop wearing them; I wear them at work almost every day, above and beyond the purpose they were meant for.
I bought these socks for a 30 day backpacking trip to Patagonia. I wore one pair the entire trip to save on weight. These socks were the perfect sock for the job. They are taller than most boots which helps prevent rubbing from the top of the boot. They also add cushion since they are thick, and lots of warmth. Darn Tough socks never fail to amaze. They are my go to sock for anything outdoors.
I am a RN and on my feet a lot of hours and also have circulation issues in my right leg/foot. I borrowed these socks from my husband and never plan on giving them back. They are warm and offer great support for anyone that is on their feet all day. I also wear these when in the car going on vacation for support. My legs/feet feel great! And they are very cushioned. LOVE, LOVE LOVE them!
