I was worried about which size to order based in the reviews. I’m 5’8”, 140lbs, and the small fits pretty well but not ideal. I’m worried if I went to a medium they’d be too big. The length is perfect but a bit tight in the thighs. I also wish they were higher waisted. I’ve included pictures with my harness on so you can determine if the rise will bug you or not. I think I’ll deem these as my bouldering pants. I hope they stretch out a bit more in the thighs as I wear. All in all, very comfy and I’m excited to actually climb in them in cooler months. Side note: The drawstring isn’t centered on the pant. It doesn’t mess with the function but it drives me kinda nuts.
I wanted to love these pants because the material is really soft and movable but seems pretty robust at the same time. Unfortunately I don't think I could ever wear this outside doing any outdoorsy activity that's not rock climbing because the fabric around the butt bunches up in a ridiculous goofy way. For reference I'm 98lb 5'2" with a 25" waist. The XS fits me great at the waistband even without tightening anything and is loose everywhere else but not super baggy. I've included some pictures to show the weird poof in the back but they don't do it justice. They probably meant to provide ample movement but it clearly is going to poof up just based on the design of the seam across the butt area. You might be able to see the fabric coming up to a point on when already on the hanger.
These run big. 5'4" 130 and the small was giant (see gray pants photo). I think REI sent me a last season pair; I was charged $79 but the pants arrived with a $69 price tag (REI refunded me the $10 even before I shipped them back). I reordered in XS from Black Diamond directly and they fit much better. I have athletic thighs and butt and really struggle to find pants that fit my thigh/butt/waist combo, but these work. I wish these pants had a bit higher rise, I get a bit of a weird poof above my butt, but overall these fit nicely (what I wouldn't give for some good high waist climbing joggers). I haven't climbed yet in them, but I tried some high leg kicks and other ambitious moves in my bedroom and they had plenty of space for all kinds of movement. The other pants I climb in are La Sportiva wave pants (size small), these are equally if not more comfortable and cost considerably less (79 vs 119). I do the bulk of climbing outside so I will have to see how these hold up.
I absolutely love the look of these pants, and they're very comfy. Perfect every day hiking pants! They do seem to stretch out the more you wear them. If you feel you're in between sizes, size down! They are not a water resistant material, so keep that in mind for your purposes.
I bought these for autumn hiking in the Grand Canyon. They are amazing! They didn’t ride down (or up) during miles of hiking with a heavy pack. I didn’t have to think about them at all which is what I wanted. They did not restrict my movement and they held up great for scrambling around in Utah slot canyons too. Dust and dirt wiped away easily. Perfect for going from trial to around town. They do run large. I’m 5’10” 165 lbs and would normally want an xl. The large fit nicely though roomy and I may try a med in another color. I have very long legs and would love to have 2 or 3 more inches of length but that’s hard to find so I’m happy with these!
I don't understand why women aren't given functional pockets. I look at the same pants for the Men's nosh, and they have full pockets to "stash your stuff" not hand pockets for your "small essentials". These pockets are not sown attached to the side and are very narrow. Whatever you put in them ends up resting on the inside of your leg. It'd be great if one single brand out there could craft EQUAL pockets for women and men. Not all women carry purses, not all women WANT to carry purses, and ALL women have THINGS to store in pockets.
I havent ever been able to find climbing pants that fit right, until I found these. Im pretty athletic with a small waist, but thighs and big butt. I got a small in these 5’3 125-130) and they fit great. If I had the option to try an x-small I would have, but I still wear my smalls all the time. The butt is a little poofy but it fits the shape of my butt well and let’s me climb without my crack showing. Also I believe these run just a half size too big but its just enough room to allow leggins underneath for super cold days. I also love the draw string because climbing with a belt is uncomfortable, and these do a great job of staying in place
I wear these pants almost every day. I seriously own 3 pairs and will probably buy more. Pros: nice breathable fabric, very comfortable for working from home without looking sloppy if I go out to do errands, good pockets, good range of motion, sophisticated colors. Cons: I think they stretch out over time -- I'm short and around 130lbs, I found myself between a S and an XS and went with the larger size but after a few months found they felt too baggy. I bought more pairs in XS and we'll see how those hold up. I also find the length perfect but on a taller person they may be too short.
I wish I could give 4.5 stars because the pants are nearly perfect... I am 5'5" 160 lbs and got a Medium. They overall fit me, but I wish I would have gotten a Small - that's how large they run. They seem to stretch a bit while wearing, too. I tried to shrink them in the drier, but alas, they did not shrink. NOTE: I am not a climber and only wear these pants as casual wear. Perhaps the Medium is the correct fit if I were to be bending and stretching a lot. Regarding the butt poof: I totally see it, but it works in my favor :) I am not gifted in the butt area and welcome the slight puffiness to my backside (though it's not as much as a puff as one of the other reviewers had).
These pants are really comfortable and flattering too. I bought them for indoor climbing since I stick to synthetic and more durable material for outdoor climbing. But after trying them on and wearing them for a day, I know now I will likely use them more often as part of my casual attire rather than in the rock climbing gym. There's enough room and stretch for the highest of high knees, so they are definitely good for gym climbing. For size inquiries, I am 5'3" 125 lbs athletic build and I found the XS to be perfect, maybe even a little bit roomy once worn in a little bit. Definitely getting more pairs once more colors become available.
