Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Good shirt for warm weather
Overall, this shirt is a solid choice if you are looking for a UPF 50 rated long sleeve to block the sun. It is lightweight and comfortable, and does a good job wicking away sweat to help keep you dry. However, the sleeves are a very athletic cut, which doesn't give much airflow to your arms. In hot weather, a looser fit in the sleeves would be preferable to give better ventilation. Thus, I would recommend this shirt for warm, but not extremely hot, environments. Summer hiking at high elevations (where the temps might not be extreme, but the UV exposure most certainly *is*) would be an excellent place for this shirt.
Wore every day
I wore the shirt every day for two weeks in the Tetons and Yellowstone park in the morning I would put on a short sleeve dry fit tea and this long sleeve T over it. If it was in the 30s I’d wear my REI down jacket. But in the 40s up till about 60° it was just the two T-shirts and I was very comfortable the fit is very good and I’m a double XL and I weigh 275
One of the best running shirts I have ever owned
Originally bought this long sleeve t-shirt for hiking for the sun protection. And it performed very well at that; no stress marks from the seams while carrying a 35-lb backpack for 10-mile hikes. I recently started wearing it of ray runs because all my Nike Pro t-shirts make my nipples burn during my longer runs. The Sahara long sleeve t-shirt did no such thing even when I'm completely drench with sweat. My inly complaint is that the shirt doesn't dry up as quickly as the Nike Dry-Fit otherwise it will be perfect. I've also used it for a multi-day backpacking trip to Utah and this shirt smelled like fresh shirt even after three days of wearing. I only wish that I bought more than two when it was on sale. Oh well, gotta wait for the next sale if not I'm buying 4 more at retail.
Pacific Crest Trail savior
I hiked 150 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, and this is the only shirt I wore every day. It got dirty as can be, but it was the most comfortable shirt I ever wore, and kept me cool in the hot California sun. If I wasn't wearing this shirt I would've been a lobster or worse... The UV protection properties definitely did their job! Easy to wash and maintain. Would definitely buy this again and recommend it to anyone doing long distance hiking.
Lightweight and Breathable
*If your debating sizes go a step down, it runs a bit on the bigger side* Took on a backpacking trip where temps hung in the high 80s and humid, with a dramatic increase in tick activity I wanted to give long sleeves a go. This shirt was very breathable and didn't stick to me like many cheaper shirts would. After 3 days in the woods I certainly had a funk but it cut down on odor more than I had anticipated. Will happily buy again.
Newest Models Are Not the Same as Orginal!
For some reason REI has switched away from the original design. The originals were some of the best shirts I have ever owned. The new fabric seems heavier. I am concerned that it will not wick away moisture. One of the primary reasons I own these shirts is the UPF protection afforded to your arms. I have worn these shirts in temperatures above 112 and loved the way they moved moisture away from my body while protecting my skin. The jury is still out on these new shirts.
Lightweight comfort
Bought two of these for a week in Death Valley, I wore each multiple times through the week on day long hikes, was always comfortable cold or hot, sun protection was good, and the anti odor system worked quite well for multiple wears. I'll be buying more!
Beware
Be careful buying this shirt if you have purchased REI version of this shirt. This new REI Co-op version is very different. The seams are not flat and the cut is different.
The Perfect Basic Shirt
My wardrobe is full of these as well as the short sleeve version. Equally at home in the summer as they are light and breathable as they are under a fleece or vest in the fall, these are extremely versatile shirts. They are soft, stretchy, and well made. The perfect basic.
Wear these all the time
they are lightweight, keep their shape, super comfy, and protect me from the sun and the cold
