Sizing Notes
Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

Nice shirt for desert climates
I live in Southern California and since the desert is basically my backyard I spend a lot of time there and bought this shirt for my time exploring the wonderful diverse terrain of the desert. I own two of the long sleeve versions that i am very happy with and the short sleeve version delivers the same performance I couldn't be happier. I do wish it came in other colors. I also like the fact it runs a little big, this makes it a very comfortable shirt. I will be buying more.
size creep
Have several sahara shirts of the 2012 vintage: fit perfectly, wear like iron, but they have collected some bleach spots and such. Bought some 2018 shirts: lots of minor changes, mostly improvements like pocket snaps replacing velcro closures and elimination of useless venting detail. Sadly, the XXL is now a couple of inches smaller, and thus too small. Stretchy fabric does not compensate for too small. Will send them back. Still a nice product, just not for me.
love this shirt
Love the change when REI got rid of the mesh armpits. This is my favorite summer shirt and I’d love to get another one, but they need new color choices.
Please make more colors!
I absolutely love this shirt. I have been wearing it (and the older version) almost every day for many years. It fits great and travels perfectly. It REALLY needs updated colors, though- please bring back the nice red, light green, and purple/blue colors and add others besides beige and khaki so I can buy more shirts!!
Bargain price
I haven't had much luck with REI's Safari line. The zip off shorts for example come unzipped on their own. But i liked the look of this shirt so much I took a chance and am pleased so far. It's cool for summer and fits really well. My only complaint is after 3 or 4 washings, it looks like it will fade. That's usually a good thing for this kind of shirt but I wear it to work. For the price though you can't beat this for summer. I did return the XL in favor of a L, seems to run just a little big.
Design changes are an improvement
I usually buy a new one of these every year, due to old ones wearing out and wanting to have a few for camping/beach trips, etc. When I bought my latest Sierra shirt, I was pleasantly surprised that the shoulder venting had been changed and it's much better than the previous years version.
Nice pockets improvement
Love it. I have used Sahara shirts for many years. They are durable Wonderful shirt for hot, humid weather. Velcro closures in the front pockets were replaced with snap buttons. Good idea.
Great for Hot and Humid Weather
Cool and comfortable, fit is not too tight, not too loose. Don’t use a hot iron, though!

Wish they didn't change the design
Needed to replace some of my Sahara short sleeve shirts - lost several due to a recent luggage theft. My existing wardrobe was circa 2013-2017. I bought one when it was on sale. I found that the design was all new - why was this shirt called a Sahara Tech Shirt? Much lighter weight fabric with a distinct plastic feeling, snaps on pockets (what was wrong with the Velcro?), open venting across back. Not as good as the old design - bring that one back!
