Vuori  Outdoor Trainer Shell Jacket - Men's

Handled the Mist Trail to Vernal Falls in Yosemite with aplomb. I bought this for our recent trip to Yosemite over the Memorial Day weekend of 2025. My son and I hiked up the Mist Trail to Vernal Falls. I knew it would be warm most of the time and I wanted a jacket that could be packed away and would breath well but could also help shed off most of the heavy mist that amazing trail is known for. This jacket delivered. The color is understated and timeless. My wife got a hold of it when we convinced her and our daughter to try the trail the next day. I haven't seen it since... :-)

Very very thin. Medium is fine in chest but way short in the arms (5’11 170 lbs here). Large would’ve been a poncho size wise. Also the stitching for the interior chest pocket also takes away from styling and looks like a post manufacturer after thought add on. But worst part is the sizing and trying to get the thing on without it turning into a jigsaw puzzle. Material is so thin and it clings relentlessly to itself, making the normal ‘one arm in then swing around’ move pretty much impossible. Sadly I like Vuori’s stuff but this is a major swing and miss.

This jacket is true to size, comfortable, breathable and good for the most part. It's great as a thrown on and good a run. However, I have had numerous issues with the zipper. I found that the zipper separated frequently at the retainer box (bottom). The zipper feels "cheap"; a more robust zipper would make this jacket better. I get that it's intended to be lightweight, but a little more heft to the zipper, resulting in better teeth would ensure this jacket is rad. I am also skeptical about some of the seems. Unfortunately, only time will tell.

Love this jacket! Light, Comfortable, Looks Great. I own two Vuori's Outdoor Trainer Shells already that I bring them everywhere to but decided to buy another color just for outfit matching. However to my surprise, Vuori changed their sizing. I'm a semi-muscular built Medium, my previous Outdoor Trainer Shells were in Medium. I still can wear them and move around in them without any problem. However, when I received the new jacket, I found that it was very uncomfortable. The shoulders are shorter, the arm sleeves are skinnier, the bust is tighter... Had to return and size up to a Large in order to wear it comfortably.

I love the fit, feel, and look of this jacket. However, I’ve worn it about 5 times and I’m a bit concerned at how fuzzy it’s starting to get. The dark fabric color makes the white fuzzies stand out a lot. It’s not in a high friction area or from backpack straps, it’s just all along the front side. I’m going to wash it for the first time and wear it a bit more, but I’m feeling like this will be a return.

Great jacket, but zipper has broken twice. This is the only reason for 3 stars.

This is a well-designed, constructed, functional shell jacket. The materials used are excellent and because of the listed merits the jacket is reasonably priced. This is one of those pieces of equipment that when taken care of, it will take care of you.
