Not really using it as intended....

I ride motorcycles long distance and I needed a fuel bladder for additional fuel storage. This works great! I added the levered nozzle with some tubing to connect to the tank equalizing lines. Tested it with 93 octane gas for weeks and did not leak at all or break down lining material in any noticeable way (did discolor it to a yellow blueish gas color). Very durable, though I wish it had better mounting options.

How Disappointing
Climbing in the Southwest

Both of the 10L units that I ordered leaked at the valve. Perhaps this is a defect limited to the 10 L models as others using smaller units seemed to have better performance. Unfortunately, this was unacceptable when we were hoping to rely on these units to stay secure in a haul bag while on a wall climb. Fortunately, the defects were discovered before we left home, and besides the puddles on the living room floor we were not impacted. Bummer, I expected so much more from an MSR product.

A big step down from the original

This is a step down from the old Dromedary bag. I hang it and the top grommet is missing so it doesn't hang well, it collapses down. The 3 way cap is a complete disaster either a tiny trickle or risk losing the entire contents in a gusher , I liked the spigot MSR but unfortunately using it on this model it leaks the thread is different. I am disgusted with MSR's planned obsolescence. It is clear MSR didn't field test this before putting it out. Very disappointed with this model. Very poorly done MSR I will never buy another. It does hold water that's the only positive.

Durable and reliable

I recently did a backpacking trip to the Badlands, SD. This held all 10 liters without a problem. I carried just over 26 pounds in water alone for that trip and it was difficult to figure out how to carry that much water. This product solved that problem. It fit right in where my Camelback usually goes. I plan on getting more of these for a 12 day trip through the 99-mile Everglades Water way kayaking trip because it can fit easily it nooks. One issue I have with the back is the strat that comes with it. It would be nice to have a padded sling so you can have it slung over your shoulder. But that's solvable with a climbing sling or a spare dufflebag sling.

Horrible chemical taste, water undrinkable

Even after the deep cleaning instructed on MSR site, the horrible chemical taste is too overpowering, the water is undrinkable. Recently brought this on a trip where there was limited water access and filled the MSR to be our drinking water source. The taste was so powerful it became nauseating to the point we chose to go without water until we got to a source rather than risk losing even more fluids from nausea. I saw reviews about the bad taste prior to purchasing, but was reassured it was fixable from the MSR cleaning instructions. It was not fixable. Hoping I can salvage the $60 by making it into a shower or something. Do not buy this bag.

Durable however plastic water taste persists

This is a durable product with a pouring spout that meets my needs. My experience is the water tastes like plastic. I bought this product 15 years ago (still works) and hoped my 2021 repurchase would result in better tasting water. Not so. Putting lemon juice in the container for a long soak did not eliminate the plastic taste nor did repeated fillings of water over time. The poor water taste has been reported for years. Recent REI statements that the plastic water taste is "now improved" are not validated in my experience. This is unfortunate. I bought one 12 years ago which still works however the wat

The bag is pretty good but the cap is a total loser

I've bought several over the years and I will not buy another. First the old bags have a slightly different thread so the new caps don't fit properly they leak. It is sad that MSR doesn't back their older products, part of the throw away culture. The bag gives a chemical taste so I use it for washing. The old bag had an on off nozzle like a spigot which is not made any more. It was very useful for filling a pan with water, rinsing etc. Now all they have is a tiny spout or risk the entire bag empting on you, very ineffective especially if you hang the bag. What used to be a product I enjoyed using is now something I will never buy again.

Skeptical but very happy

So like many of you reading reviews on this, you need a durable portable water storage but are nervous about leaking or possible bad taste. I'm here to reassure you that all is fine. A buddy and I both each bought one for a self supported bike tour down Mexico's Baja Peninsula where we'd go days without refill. This thing worked magic! There is initially a funky plastic taste but it goes away in a few days and is never unbearable to begin with. They never leaked or punctured. It was the hero of our trip, aside from our Schwalbe Tires.

Working great, as expected

Absolutely no spillage, wich was my fear from reviews. Quite rugged, no surprises having it resting on the soil and dirt, but always handled with care. The particular plastic taste indeed wears off after several -several- uses. I washed it lot of times before first use alternating sodium bicarbonate and vinegar solutions, wich I think helped. I use the smallest spout cap to release air when half full to reduce overall volume and reduce air bags inside. One thing I would like to know is if there is some official guidelines or tips for long term storage of the bag between outdoors seasons. The manual or the web doesnt give any clues regarding that topic.

Chemical smell and taste

We recently left our MSR dromedary behind and bought 2 new ones to replace it. We were very disappointed when we used them on a kayaking trip this weekend! The chemical smell and taste was overpowering making the water undrinkable. It was so disappointing to have this happen in the field, especially from a brand we trust.

Heavy duty waterbag

I have used the 4L bag now for approx 4 years without any issue, the 3-in-1 cap gets worn over time but is still functioning witout any problem or leak. The rest of the bag is as good as new. Two minor thinks that might have to be considered: 1. Then trying to dry the bag something needs to put in to allow it to dry completely. 2. The bag is black. Together with sunsine the water in it will get quite warm. This can be good or bad depending on the situation. In genereal I actually like this so I can double-use it as a solar-shower bag :) Most of the time when using that bag I do cycle tours and attach it on top of my rear bicycle rack. Definitive a ""would-by-again""
