Decent bike for kids

Good - Elegant, strong, good breaks, quality material Bad - little heavy for kids, gears too hard to operate for 8 year old. If gears are upgraded, this is excellent bike for kids!

Makes family bike rides easier

We got this bike for my daughter's 8th birthday earlier this month. It is her first bike with gears and has made going on family bike rides so much easier. The bike looks great, and she couldn't be happier.

Needed new shifters, immediatly

Bought two of these for my boys for xmas, and weren't allowed to give them a 'test ride' around the store (the folks working seemed awfully nervous of kids in their store to begin with...), and didn't realize till we were hours away at home, that the shifters were nearly impossible to move. We're now having new shifters put on them by a local bike shop, who talked to shimano and discovered that they simply suck - I believe we're at an extra $130 per bike, thus far. Hopefully nothing else needs replaced.
