I was skeptical about the shock absorbing tips on the pole, they held up great and can feel the difference. I have used them on both the Colorado Trail and the Appalachian Trail, both hikes were in rocky terrain. There we no slippage in the locking mechanisms at all. I thought that the poles were a little pricey, but got them with my REI dividends, so I did not have to chunk out some bucks. Good investment for the long haul.
One of the features of this pole is the shock absorbing give with a spring and elastomers inside. The negative that I found is that each step has a "duh-duh-duh" sound as the spring bounces off the tube. I weight 170 with a 25lb pack and i don't move the suspension climbing up. I need to get my whole weight on it to budge and that rarely happens. On the bright side, the craftsmanship is excellent. The ergonomics are the best I've felt. The price is good.
Looks great online and better on clearance. A bit heavy and wobbly at 130cm. Would probably feel more stable at a shorter length. Adjustable to be used by different people. Going to return.
