Comfortable boot, questionable durability

This is a comfortable boot that is very supportive. I have a hundred miles on them, and my only concern is the leather nose is getting beat up. I would love if they had rubber covering the nose of the boot. I put Nikwax on them and the waterproofing worked great in a downpour. I don't think I will get more than a year or more out of these boots. The quality is great, but they are breaking down quickly. I ordered their Lux boot but it is enormous and so I will return those. I hike almost every day, so this is why I want to own two pairs of boots. I think for most hikers, this boot would work really well.

Gorgeous-- just needs to be broken in.

So comfortable until the hike gets to be a bit too long. I consistently get a blister in the back heel after a while-- hoping it goes away after these get more broken in. Love the classic style & am sure they'll last forever. Great grip & so supportive-- I feel very safe hiking in these.

Incredible boots!

I am extremely pleased with these boots. I wish REI carried this style in stores because I think more folks would be inclined to give them a try. They only carry mountaineering styles in stores but those are simply too much boot for a lot of people’s use as well as heavy. But this style is exactly what I needed. I debated for a long while before I bit the bullet because I couldn’t try them on in person. FIT: I wear a 9.5 and have a normal on the edge of wide foot and prefer wide especially when hiking. I almost always wear a 41 sometimes 41.5 and I needed a 42 in this brand. I found that fit to be perfectly supportive without insoles but I added my custom arch support as well. I tend to roll my ankles and the ankles can up to an adequate height for extra support and keep your toes from jamming to the end of the boot on down slopes. I might prefer they have a slightly higher ankle by one extra hook but they wouldn’t underperform at the current ankle height. PERFORMANCE: Very grippy in all conditions. I hiked mountains in Northern California, rainy coastal redwoods, and coastal southern Norway in the winter. They accommodate thicker socks if need be and the ankle support is excellent. They performed well in all conditions and my feet always stayed dry. I had initially been interested in them because they had the structural support and quality I was looking for but what sealed the deal was that they were understated looking. Neutral color and I can change the laces. I think they look timeless. I’ve only had them for about 2 months. The break in time was maybe a week and the only thing I noticed was a stiff sole. After the third hike I hardly noticed it. No blisters or discomfort really even after the first hike. I will update my review after more time but I have a feeling that they will last. I am excited that they can resoled for years to come.
