Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic lightweight daypack! I adore this backpack! The design is really nice. Very lightweight and flexible. I bought it just before a week long trip and used it as my daypack for a number of hikes and day trips. It's super comfy and well-made. The mesh side pockets are the perfect size for a Nalgene, but a little loose for my other narrower water bottle, so I stuck with the Nalgene. The front pocket is quite large and perfect for keeping a notebook and snacks and stuff in. Held up well to the light rain we got all day hiking. I'm very pleased with this pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size and weight I've had the Flash 18 pack for a number of years, and I love it, but had this nagging desire for a just a bit more room and kept eyeing my climbing partner's Flash 22 Pack. I missed the side bottle pockets, and the accessibility of an outside zipper. I recently bought a mid-range camera and putting the camera bag with two separate lens cases into the mouth of the Flash 18 was a little tight, so decided to give in and check out the Flash 22. The mouth of the pack is just that much wider to make putting my camera bag in that much easier, with plenty of room for layers, snacks, and other necessities. I love the Strata Print Vin Rouge - nice teal contrast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light but spacious Was looking for a pack to carry my climbing gear to and from the gym. This fits my harness and chalk bag easily in the main compartment (I hook my sweaty shoes on one of several loops on the outside), and have plenty of room for a jacket and extra shoes. Well placed smaller pockets hold my wallet/phone/keys without messing with the main compartment much. I might be more annoyed by the flimsy water bottle pockets on the side during a hike, but in the meantime they're great headphone and sunglasses holders.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for Big Errands, or quick local Trail Hikes I got this to fill the void between carrying a purse, or my full out day pack. The large compartment easily held everything I needed, including a snack. The outer water bottle holders are nice, and one has an extra tether to keep the bottle in place at the top. The buckle to hold the top down adds a little extra security, and the waist and sternal straps are removable (easily). I didn't like how cumbersome the drawstring is to get in and out of the main pack. I am going to replace the spring clip for that with a bigger one that is, hopefully, easier to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome light weight day pack I love this backpack. I didn't know how perfect it would be for me when I purchased it. I use it everyday to get around town with my two young children. This is also the pack I carry when I go hiking. The side pockets are great with the clips so the water bottles don't fall out. This has two smaller zipper pockets for storage and two small pockets for your phone and something like that inside. It also has a key clip, which I love. Very spacious inside. This is a win for REI.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comfortable and Roomy This pack is comfortable and roomier than I would ever have expected. The main compartment is big enough to carry my rain coat, hat, lunch, towel, and supplies for my dog. On the top flap there is a zippered pocket for valuables, and two deep pockets on the sides carry water bottles without risk of them slipping out. Plus the color is really fun. I wouldn't have wanted anything more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved the flash pack! After talking with the helpful gal at REI Fort Worth, I decided to purchase this pack for our trip to Banff for day hiking. It could not have been more perfect! It was a great size, fit everything I needed it to and had great pockets and compartments. I also got a lot of compliments on it from other hikers we talked to! All in all, I could not be more pleased with this purchase!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rad Pack! I LOVE this pack. It's so simple but totally functional for multiple uses...like a lunch pack, diaper bag, day hike pack, farmers market trips etc. seriously one of the best. Love love love. But you know what would make it the best ever? A set of compression straps on the side. I know it's dupposed to be minimalistic and lightweight and such but with that volume and the lighter material things slump around more, especially with heavier items so mild compression would make a world of difference for the 22L. Then I might just own all the colors

My 10 year old has had a Tarn 18 pack for a few years and now needs more capacity. Would this pack be a good one to go to next? I'd like one she can use for a long time, but she'll be under 5 ft tall for awhile yet and I don't want it to be way too big.

Asked by: ryahm
Yes, this pack offers a little more room that what she currently owns. This pack is a great choice, but you may want to look for something with a larger capacity as this is only 4 liters larger.

Does this pack easily compress when rolled up? I'm looking for a day pack for a rafting trip that needs to be small enough to cram in a dry bag most of the time.

I just purchaed the flash 22. I have an older flash 22 from a few years ago. My old pack had a clip to hang a hydration bladder , the new pack I don't see one. Just a nylon loop. Is the one I bought just missing one or did you stop including it ?

Asked by: Wirebender06
This Flash 22 comes with the single hanging loop.
