I am 88, in good condition for walking but in need of a little steadying. This walking stick is exactly right, light weight and comfortable to carry.

Great until it breaks

There’s nothing on the inner ends of the extensions that stops them from being accidentally pulled out too far. Pull one out too far and only the plastic holds the extension. If you don’t see that the plastic breaks and the entire cane is then useless.

Unexpectedly uncomfortable handle

there is nothing wrong with this pole from a quality or construction perspective and maybe I'm just not smart enough to know how to hold it...but the handle is remarkably uncomfortable! I can walk for about 100 yards and my hand is cramping...couldn't imagine going for a legit trek or hike. I've tried holding it every way that I can...nothing works for me. I also assumed that a cork handle would be comfortable and have a bit of give to it, this feels like a hard plastic handle...maybe this is just what they feel like and this is all on me...but had I known any of this I wouldn't have purchased so leaving this review for other buyers that are not experienced with this type of product.

Purchase & Pack this grand walking staff.

Surprise purchase for my husband to use on our tour of Switzerland & Austria. Easy air travel in checked luggage. He used through out our 25 days of travel on buses, cog trains, boats, subways and taxis. The Staff provided comfortable walking stability on cobblestone & steps found in grand palaces, castles and gardens. He took the staff to the Top of Europe where he otherwise would not have ventured to walk. Best tool for travel.

Wait....what? Am I missing something here?

The pole is light and the handle comfortable for me. Regarding the wrist loop, the pole came with a thick-ish cord but I much prefer a wide, flat woven strap (which I think I can easily replace). I'm looking forward to using it on the trail. Yeah! But duh.....I think I'm missing something here. I'm 4'11" tall. In order to achieve the 90-degree bend at my elbow, I have to extend the 2 extendable sections to the max (to where the top section says STOP! and lower says EXTEND TO HERE). The resulting length of the pole then works perfectly for me. But curiously, I don't see how it will work for any one taller, like my hubby who's 5'9". The product description says this pole is "A great fit for heights under 5' to over 6'." I keep looking at the pole to see if there's a third extendable section, but I don't see one. What am I missing?

Good support

This cane helped me finish the last 300 miles of the Ice Age Trail after knee problems. I figured it supported more weight than regular sticks, which seemed more for balance. And I put it through quite a bit, my weight plus over 30 pounds of pack, especially on the downhills. I wish it was measured to set for your height because I had some elbow pain before I found the right setting (which was about 86cm, with rubber tips on, for my 6 ft).

Shorter walking sticks with great handles

So disappointed that at 6'2" these poles are way to short gor me. I discussed them at length with a salesperson, how I prefer a T style grip/handle. Most poles extend to 130Cm but these only go to 105cm

My Favorite Hiking Pole

This is my favorite hicking stick. I do have a separate pair of sticks to use for backpacking but this is the stick I use for day hikes. I prefer to use only one stick unless I’m carrying more pack weight. And this handle is the best. The shape is perfect and my hand automatically turns it around for best support up or down. I had one of the original ones and one of the locks just broke. The handle coating is different on the new one and I prefer the old style, which was more raw cork. The new still is a cork composite of some sort and it harder and more slick but I am finding that I really like it. Also, I think with use the surface will have more of a cork feel as the surface coating wears off.

Problem Solved

My mom finds her cane to be very Old Lady-ish however she needs the hand support that her cane provides. I bought her two of these poles because she gets tired and wants to rests evenly. I also got her the tip protectors so you don't have to hear her coming a mile away. She said these poles make her feel adventurous and people don't treat her like an old lady the way they do when she has her cane. The retractable feature is great for traveling.

Great for surgery recovery

I purchased this to help me recover from hip surgery and it's been great - It's stable and easy to adjust. It would be great if it came with a rubber walking tip for indoor use but I got a pair of them separately and they worked fine. Personally, I'd recommend this over a fixed length walking stick for post-surgery: it's been great to be able to fine-tune the length for different situations.

My husband has inner ear hearing and stability problems after working on printing presses his whole life, we got this to help him feel more confident while we hiked. Absolutely a game changer. Lightweight, durable, smart.
